Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a snifter. Beer pours a thick black color with a thick foamy 1 finger tan head. Very little carbonation is detected. Immediate aromas of vanilla and whiskey hit the nose followed by some roasted coffee, caramel, and a little bit of chocolate. The beer smells awesome.
The taste is great. Up front you get the vanilla and whiskey flavor from the oak aging and sweeter caramel malt flavors followed by the bitter coffee flavor at the back of the mouth with a slight hint of dark chocolate. As the beer warms a bit more, there's a hint of alcohol in the flavor. If that wasn't present, I might've considered a 5 for the taste. It's a drinkable beer, but the alcohol content and flavor give it a slight hit on drinkability. It's a thick beer that feels wonderful in the mouth and goes down pretty easy.
This is one of the best stouts I've had. Very flavorful and great on a cold night. Highly recommended.
