Picked this up in Boulder, CO.

Appearance: This porter poured a dark amber-brown color. It easily let light through when the glass was held up to the window, and this brought out the dark, ruby hues within its depths. The light tan head rose up two fingers and dissipated rather quickly. It remained a little rougher than I expected as it did so. Lacing was minimal.

Smell: Nice roasted malts and cream provided a solid base for the sharper aromas of cherries and hops that floated on top. However, it had a metallic twinge to it that really detracted from the rest of the smells.

Mouthfeel: Kind of light-bodied, but with a smooth, creaminess to it.

Taste: Very thin flavor, almost to the point of being watery at times. Roasted malts and sweet cream were heavy upfront. Then, well into the finish arose some light hops. An occasional hint of dark cherry came through in the aftertaste, but only because I was struggling to find something else in this beer.

The flavor that was there wasn't bad, there just needed to be a lot more of it, especially for a beer that bills itself as a robust porter.

a pretty good porter here, very much in the english style. i found it to be a bit sweet and a bit under carbonated for my tastes, but otherwise its quite good. medium brown, crystal clear, with a ruby red glow in the light. not much head on it. the nose and taste both are chocolate malty and sweet, amber beer sweetness, an odd sensation in a porter, which i usually look at as being dryer and more clean. it has a slightly watered down texture too, which surprises me in this dark colored brew with so much residual sugar. its a little generic overall, a beer i have tasted a thousand times, nothing super distinct about it at all. that said, the flavors work well together and its a rather true to style porter. more carbonation would make it outstanding, but it drinks a little heavy without it. one and done for me.

It looks right for a porter, though it's got some lightness to the body and doesn't appear to have quite so much texture as the typical American-style, more robust porter. The tan head is retained fairly well after reaching one finger's height, though it gets a little wispy, and it manages a goodly amount of sticky lacing in patches.
Some chocolate is firm on the nose, on the sweeter side of bittersweet with some creaminess. There's an interesting near-tartness hiding. Roast is there, though not as prominent as it is in many of the style, and there's something like nuttiness underneath.
The taste is a little sweeter, a little creamier, and a little richer, all while allowing the roast to carry it without any acrid edge. There's a bit of coffee, and some earthiness comes into the finish even as a touch of balancing hops come out.
Despite the question in the look, this is a nice, full, rich porter with a full body and a smooth flow.
