From a 650 ml bottle (best by December 24, 2014) into a tulip.

A-The beer is darker than many of the style...sort-of a light amber. It is nearly clear with about two fingers of oily, clingy, light-tan head. Retention is pretty good.

S-The aroma is, of course, dominated by hop scents. I sniff some citrus (orange mostly, but some grapefruit too), mint, light floral notes, and light pine notes. The malts are mostly buried, but I get a bit of toast flavor.

T-The taste is more minty and pine forward than the smell. There is some floral character and a bit of citrus. I would call it highly bitter, but more herbal and vegetal. There is a touch of sweetness up front that mostly fades as the beer finishes. Malts are minimal with just a hint of toast again.

M-The feel is medium in heft with a bit of an oily coating. Carbonation is moderate.

O-This is a pretty tasty beer. I like how the hops are not overly juicy, but not overly bitter or harsh, either. The balance is well done and the fresh hops provide a unique aspect to the mouthfeel, in particular. A nicely done beer.

Bottle best-by dated 12/24/14. Darker caramel color than I expected, with almost no head. The taste is predominated by caramel malt flavors, with some floral and bitter notes contributed by the hops. Not bad, but I would've liked to see the other elements of the beer be a bit more delicate to let the fresh hops shine through.

22 oz bomber poured into pint glass

This copper-tan ale exchanges complexity with drinkability, but still tasty nonetheless. The nose is floral and dank hops, with earthy tea-like astringency and a funk that lingers at the edge of the bouquet. The flavors follow the nose but the funk bends into a distinctly unripe apple flavor... still with edges of sour funk.

Not the easiest 6%-ish pale to throw back, but if you're craving dank hops with a lighter malt-backbone, this might hit the spot.
