On-tap at the Great Divide Tap Room.

A: Deep amber, with nice clarity and mild carbonation. A soapy cream tinged cap has strong beginnings, good retention and leaves a goodly amount of lace.

S: Citrus, pepper and pine dominate. There are some toffee notes in the background, but the focus is placed squarely on the hops.

T: Bittersweet toffee starts things out. A moderate bitterness comes on fast. Flavors of lemon, grapefruit, pepper and pine intermingle nicely; with no one flavor overpowering the others. Finishes with a long lasting bitterness.

M: The medium body is oily and slick. Carbonation feels about right.

D: Overall, this is a very nice APA. The hops add a lot of flavor without making the beer a hop bomb. A very nice effort from Great Divide.

Overall a good beer. The appearance is really gold. Pours a translucent golden color that comes with a crisp white head that makes the brew look good. Leaves a thin sticky lace in parts of the glass.

The smell is good also, maybe a little too sweet. I got a few different smells, obviously some beautiful fresh hops. Really good stuff that comes with honey smell with a wheat smell also. Maybe not a wheat as much as a grain smell. Hey, it was a good smell, not too complex, just like a good pale ale.

The taste was good too. It was not a great pale ale, it was a good brew that is drinkable and enjoyable. I got some sweetness with the taste with it also, but not much. Probably a little honey, a little sweet fruits which most likes come off the sugars and hops. Okay, it is a drinkable pale ale, what else do you want? It is good, it tastes like a pale ale, there are hops present, it is all good.

The mouthfeel is weird because it is an oily brew. I don't know what about the brew makes it oily, probably something from the hops, but a lip-smacking oily taste contributes to the mouthfeel. Otherwise, the brew is good, dances well on the tongue and goes down pretty smooth. Really a good average pale ale. I would maybe try it again, but there are better pale ale's out there. Overall good.

First of all a huge thanks to hoppedup for this very selfless gift!
This beer pours out a somewhat hazy pale orange with a bit of a thin head yet thick sheets of lacing.
Smells like fresh hops alright, I grew some Cascade this year and this is pretty close to what I got fresh picked.
The taste is a nice sweetish pale ale reminiscent of Bells Two-Hearted but with a super citrus bitter finish.
Hats off to Great Divide for trying something fresh.
