This IPA from Great Divide is bright and entirely clear though on the darker side, coppery dark orange leaning red. The head stays at about one finger's height, perhaps a hair more, very well, and the lacing left behind is think, clumpy and plentiful, dropping down to some intricate webbing at its slightest.
The aroma is strong with hops and very giving. They're up front on the nose and clearly the focus, with some bready, somewhat toasty malts just there for balance. Aside from some pine resin, it takes on an earthy rawness, sort of herbal and not-quite-spicy, with some leafy mint contributing.
On the tongue, though, the hops really hit home. It's dank and earthy, lots of leaf and herb, while some grapefruit and orange peel bring citrus character into it. Malts are again crusty and dryish, maybe a hint of caramel in there. Some of the almost cheesecloth notes I get from particular breweries (Fat Head's in particular) are present. I'm wondering if Amarillo is part of the bill, as lots of fresh but not hot mint leaf makes its way out. Pithy but not too much, and balanced between juicy and dry, this beer offers plenty.
The body is medium with some heft and depth to it, revealing a couple layers on the tongue as it rolls smoothly over, almost silky without giving up a strong crispness all the way from beginning to end.

Reviewing from notes after enjoying this brew on 11/1/2013. I really need to organize my tasting notes and pictures better. Poured out of a 22 oz brown bottle with a bright green foil wrap and a best by date of Dec 30, 2013 stamped on the label. Poured into a 16 oz nonic style tumbler.

Appearance - Body pours a translucent copper color with notes of orange and muddy brown depending on how the light and shadows pass through. Atop the body sits a rocky two finger head comprised of very small bubbles the color of linen. The retention is excellent, and the foam slowly starts to recede with ample pocking and a consistently thin sheet of lace on the side of the glass.

Smell - A pretty good balance of light, bready malt and more pungent hops. The hops, consisting of lots of herbal undertones--grass, chives, pine needles--and citrus were more obvious, but they were held in check by a pleasant foundation of grain, to give the aroma some fullness, so to speak. In addition to the herbal dominance, there were notes of lemon and orange zest to give a delightful citric quality to the aroma.

Taste - Here the grain is again present, but only as a cracker is present to convey delicious charcuterie and cheese to one's mouth. In this case, the part of the meat and cheese is played by the wonderful wet hops with a fantastic combination of pine resin, lemongrass, orange zest and even some hints of pink grapefruit. Perhaps it's all in my head, but the fresh harvest variety of the hops really adds a punch to the flavor profile. It's almost like I steeped my beer with a tea bag of whole cone hops.

Mouthfeel - Sufficient body--I'd place it at about medium, with moderate carbonation and a juicy characteristic, with a mostly dry finish.

Overall, I can't say this is the best wet hop ale I've had, but it's a very good one, and much easier to obtain than some of my favorites. As such, I will slot this into the list of seasonal beers I must procure when they come out each year.

dark urine color with fluffy white head. soapiness down the sides of an oily kind of feel to it.
smells bright and citrus-y, with a little bit of grass.
taste is the same, medium hop bitterness. grass, lemon, grapefruit.
I must also mention this has a best-buy date of December 29. good job Bevmo. again.
overall, it's alright but I cant say it's above 85 overall. maybe the date has something to do with it . . . .
