Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
The Samurai pours pale, straw yellow and slightly opaque into the glass forming a 1/4 inch thick white head that dissipates quickly. There is no lacing.
The beer first gives off a light toast smell that is surpassed with a marked fruitiness, tropical with hints of raspberry, pineapple, and something woodier (maybe figs).
This beer has taste notes of fruity malt, definitely berry-centered that comes through more pronounced in the finish. There is also a bit of orange and/or tart citrus with mild bitterness. Also there are hints of fresh white bread in the finish.
This is a light bodied beer with good carbonation.
This beer is almost lager-like, which makes it very easy to drink, especially on a hot day. However, i'm more a hophead, so the fruitiness can be a bit much. I can say that the beer is better than I expected.
Addition: after checking out the beer style, I think it fits the description very well. I gave it a little bump in my original rating because of it.
