Pours an opaque black body beneath the thick, creamy, mocha colored head that patiently dissipates to leave behind a dense, sticky lacing.

Aromas of oak, dark chocolate, and espresso float from the glass with faint hints of vanilla.

The flavor is very similar to the aroma highlighted by the espresso and oak notes and again offering hints of vanilla with a stronger coffee-like finish.

Thick and viscous mouthfeel with medium to generous carbonation and more pronounced woody profiles as it warms.

This is a fantastic oaked Imperial Stout. The oak is not overwhelming and does not take away from the traditional American Imperial Stout flavors. Great flavors and aromas that are exactly as advertised.

Appearance is a deep dark brown almost black color. There is more than a finger of head that took some time to dissipate. The nose has roasted notes. The body is hearty and the roast profile is robust. There are also slight hints of vanilla and coffee in the flavor profile. Unfortunately, there is the undeniable presence of an off-flavor that is difficult to place.

This offering also has the hoppiness of a black ale. However, the lingering bitterness appears to come more from the roast than the hops.

Bottled on date of 12/23/13

Appearance - Pours thick, viscous and black with a dark tan, finger width head. Fair retention.

Smell - Mocha dominates the aroma, as chocolate, vanilla and coffee notes blend in unison to deliver a marvelous bouquet. Hints of earth and oak.

Taste - Follows the nose. Nice roasty flavor off-set by some light vanilla and chocolate sweetness. Woody notes, and a leafy bitterness in the undertone. Earth. Milk chocolate and light coffee roast linger in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - This brew loses a lot here. Closer to medium than full in body; very thin for the style, leaving the beer feeling a bit hollow. Low carbonation. Really detracts from what is an otherwise amazing beer. Smooth, in the least.

Overall - Great flavor, but a disappointing mouthfeel. Not sure if the addition of espresso caused the weak body or what, because I don't recall the regular Oak Aged Yeti being this thin and lifeless. I don't know that I'd buy it again; just too many great impys out there for a better price.
