Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout (Great Divide Brewing Co.) 9.5%ABV Bottled on March 19, 2010 poured into a glass 01/01/2011
A - Similar composition to standard issue Yeti, but the bottle has a regal gold foil top. Pours thick into a glass. Black body, very dark brown head (darker than usual) for an imperial stout.
S - Coffee, chocolate, roasted malts.
T - Incredible (as in quality, not quantity) smokey note. While smokey oak is not the most dominant flavor, it is the reason to try this brew. Creamy vanilla, tiny bit of bitter, with a coffee undercurrent. The coffee tone is subtle enough to not detract from the overall experience, yet enough to add an interesting layer.
M - Silky smooth, finishes just as nicely as it begins. Wish the body was a little more substantial.
D - Dangerously drinkable. No alcohol burn, and balanced. A great offering from Great Divide-- try this.
