Poured from a bottle into a snifter. It pours a basically black thick color with a 1/2 inch mocha colored head that slowly reduces to a minimal lacing.
The aroma is a solid blend of oak with a dark fruit sweetness. A touch of coffee is mixed nicely with vanilla notes.
The taste is solid with a oaky semisweet chocolate blend with some vanilla and coffee hints. A uniquely hoppy presence lingers with a dark fruit sweetness.
The mouthfeel is full bodied with a hearty viscous component. Carbonation is more than adequate. A nice bitter dry components hangs out at the end. Thick but smooth.
Overall, this is a solid beer. The abv is well hidden and the tastes are solid in all facets. It is both drinkable and meets up to expectations. Some enhanced stouts are not as good, but this at least achieves.
