Pours a slick black beauty, with a towering dark tan root beer float-like head that sticks around and looks terrific in my pint glass.
Smells like cocoa with an oaky rye scent, malt. Pleasant indeed.
Whoa the first sip hits hard! I didn't smell the alcohol but here it is now. But this quickly settles into a deep imperial stout taste with roasted notes and bitter cocoa, dark fruits, slight anise. I always prefer big stouts sweeter and not bitter, but this is not stopping me from liking this one. It really is smooth to sip, and for my taste couldnt really be better in that regard. Sticks to the pint as well.
Oaky, roasty, bitter. A big stout but very well done.
