Bottled on 12/20/10. Drank and reviewed on 7/10/11
A: Black. Opaque blackness that is devoid of light. With a thick tan head. Beautiful.
S: Oak, chocolate, only a hint of coffee. Enticing aroma.
T: Lots of wood, chocolate and vanilla. I thought I would get more coffee and maybe I would if I had drank it closer to bottling time. Still, you do get a nice espresso aftertaste that lingers on the back end. It's not as up front with the coffee as, say, FBS or Wake N Bake but it's still really, really great and decadent.
M: Overall it's good. Just about what I like out of a stout. A little thick but I like it. Only leaves behind the tastes I want (wood and coffee).
O: Overall, this is a fantastic beer. Coffee stouts are among my favorite styles so I really enjoyed it and would definitely seek it out again. As I said, it's not as "coffee forward" to me as some others I've had, but I still really like it and would definitely recommend trying it.
