I didn't even know Great Divide was doing an espresso version of the Oaked Yeti. Had to pick a bottle up.
Motor oil from the bottle with a slow to form but solid inch of dark tan, whipped head. Reduced slowly leaving a thin layer behind and rings of lace.
Expected roasty and chocolate notes in the aroma, but not overly so. Overlying leafy hoppiness. The oak with vanilla wafts come through with the alcohol mainly.
Rich fudge brownie like chocolate initially and throughout with some slight dark fruit hints...but mostly chocolate and some slight roast. Flicker of leafy hops again. The oaky tannins and restrained coffee notes show through after the swallow. Breath of alcohol after that.
Viscous and thick, though a touch prickly. Slides around the pallate and coats everything in a thick layer of roasted goodness.
This is an awesome beer. A sipper, no doubt. Some roughness around the edges and the alcohol edge will make this bomber last for a while.
