a jet black thick motor oil like pour with about 3 inches of dark brown head. smells sweet like chocolate milk, coffee beans, caramel.. no scent of alcohol. the taste is dead on with smell, except a bit heavier on the coffee and slightly bitter because of the roastiness.

full body, lightly carbonated, very creamy, nice warm feeling.

this is a ridiculously good stout and well worth every penny. a heavy sipper but delicious throughout the whole time. barely tastes like alcohol.

Appearance is a deep dark brown almost black color. There is more than a finger of head that took some time to dissipate. The nose has roasted notes. The body is hearty and the roast profile is robust. There are also slight hints of vanilla and coffee in the flavor profile. Unfortunately, there is the undeniable presence of an off-flavor that is difficult to place.

This offering also has the hoppiness of a black ale. However, the lingering bitterness appears to come more from the roast than the hops.

Bottled on date of 12/23/13

Appearance - Pours thick, viscous and black with a dark tan, finger width head. Fair retention.

Smell - Mocha dominates the aroma, as chocolate, vanilla and coffee notes blend in unison to deliver a marvelous bouquet. Hints of earth and oak.

Taste - Follows the nose. Nice roasty flavor off-set by some light vanilla and chocolate sweetness. Woody notes, and a leafy bitterness in the undertone. Earth. Milk chocolate and light coffee roast linger in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - This brew loses a lot here. Closer to medium than full in body; very thin for the style, leaving the beer feeling a bit hollow. Low carbonation. Really detracts from what is an otherwise amazing beer. Smooth, in the least.

Overall - Great flavor, but a disappointing mouthfeel. Not sure if the addition of espresso caused the weak body or what, because I don't recall the regular Oak Aged Yeti being this thin and lifeless. I don't know that I'd buy it again; just too many great impys out there for a better price.

Bottled on 12/24/13.

Pours opaque black with a 1/2 inch brown head that fades to a thin film and a ring on top that leaves curtains of lace.

The smell is dominated by spent black coffee grounds with accents of chocolate and burnt wood. I cannot wait to tear into this.

The taste is of bitter black coffee, dark fruit, smoked barley, herbal/ almost menthol hops and a hint of anise.

The texture is on the thicker side of medium bodied with low carbonation.

The look and aroma of this brew are off the chart. However, the flavor falls off a bit in my opinion. The dominant herbal and menthol notes seem somewhat out of place here.
