Had to go all the way to San Diego for a couple of these. Sheesh! Bottled on 1/22/14. No aging on this to keep the espresso...well....espresso.
Pours an almost black brew with a dark, dark brown foamy head. Gobs of lacing all over the glass.
Big chocolate aroma's abound. Baker's, semi-sweet, dark, cocoa...insert any other. Roasted malts. Massive espresso. Smoke. Leather. Tobacco. Really good stuff here.
The taste is nice and espresso forward. Chocolate, roasty and a slight hop kick on the swallow. Maybe a splash of orange. Bitter on the aftertaste ala how an espresso beer should be.
Nice and full bodied ale. Light carbonation.
Overall this was an awesome experience. Does Great Divide do a non-awesome Yeti? They nailed this one and brought forth a beer that lives up to the name and flavor of this brew. Nice warm weather beer....or hell....anytime. Hopefully the distro will somehow find it's way to the always-slighted East Bay.
