22oz bottle poured into a cervoise.
A - Pitch black with two fingers of sticky, pillowy brown head. Tendrils of lace cling to the side of the glass.
S - Rich coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit in the background. Hints of lemon and orange zest are just noticeable.
T - Massive coffee flavor dominates the palate. It's very tasty, but the espresso really overpowers the malt. Coffee, roast barley, and hops combine for a lingering bitterness. Behind the coffee, there are notes of dark chocolate, licorice, pepper, vanilla, and caramel.
M - At first I felt mouthfeel was a bit of a letdown, but as the beer warms up, it seems to get bigger and creamier. Very good.
D - Excellent. Eventually the abv would trip me up, but otherwise I'd be content to sip this all night.
