22oz bomber poured into a snifter, sat at room temperature from the fridge for thirty minutes. Bottled on date reads 12/20/11.
A- Pours motor oil black with a gorgeous caramel colored head that quickly fades. Lots of lacing is apparent along the glass.
S- Tons of coffee and roasty malt. I'm getting some vanilla aromas also.
T- Coffee/ espresso overpowers all. The roasty malts are apparent. Aftertaste is packed with the coffee taste and almost slight hopped finish.
M- Heavy, chewy, all coffee.
A good beer, GD definitely accomplishes what they were going for. The coffee is a bit much for me in this one. I would have probably enjoyed it after some time to age it to let the strong coffee characters subside a bit.
