Pours oily black with a nice medium khaki head approximately one and a half fingers that lasts a nice long time. Some nice long lacing too!

Smells of coffee, some oak, big roasted malts and butterscotch.

tastes very sophisticated,light for an oak aged stout but not in a bad way well planned out and wonderfully executed I daresay this beer could challenge BCBCS don't pass this up if you see it on tap or at a store. This beer is is a wonderful treat. Cheers! (464 characters)

Sampled from a 22oz bottle purchased at Apex Beer Dispensary. Bottled on Dec 23 2013.

A - Deep, deep black with a small tan head that dissipates quickly.

S - Starts coffee then goes dark chocolate before settling into a mix of the two along with notes of oak and smoke. The coffee never dominates but rather dances among the other aspects. Some hops come through as it warms.

T - Big time dry roast coffee, maybe too much. It finishes with a dry, roasty bitterness. Good depth and complexity but the espresso just runs a little too wild for my taste.

M - Creamy and smooth. The carbonation is there but also unnoticeable.

O - Very good but I'd like it more with a bit less coffee. (685 characters)

Espresso Oak Aged Yeti pours black into the glass with a moderately thick brown head on top. The foam fades away slowly leaving behind a netted pattern of lace on the glass.

The aroma has lots of coffee with some chocolate, roast malt and dark fruit. I'm not picking up much oak.

Each sip of this full bodied beer is smooth and creamy, a little oily with mild carbonation. The flavor is much like the aroma, dark roast coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, and roast malt. Some oak notes come through at the end. Finishes dry with lingering coffee and oak.

Lots of flavor in this beer. Coffee and chocolate dominate, but other flavors come through as it warms. Great mouth feel too. (678 characters)

Black with a retaining beige head.

Espresso and cream.

Coffee stouts can fry your taste buds but this Yeti does not. The oak's subtle, the espresso's pronounced but that nor the alcohol gives much of a bite. That said, it's a year old bottle. A simple stout that's top of the type.

A - Pours a dark brown with a dark brown silky head with good retention.

S - Subtle coffee, chocolate, wood.

T - Coffee and a oaky punch to the mouth.

D - Good carbonation with a medium body.

A-black with a large brown head that laces the glass
S-coffee and a sweet chocolate smell
T-strong coffee taste with a strong hop bitter aftertaste that stays with you. You also get a warming in the aftertaste. Then you get a smooth taste with a malt finish that balances out the strong bitter taste
M-medium body with a low carbonation
O-This beer was outstanding. It gives you a little chocolate malt sweetness and a large bitter aftertaste that finished with a smooth taste at the finish (490 characters)

Pours a dark brown or black color, with nice mocha colored head. Very thick consistency. Smells llike coffee and syrupy malt. It tastes the way it smells: strong coffee presence and malty sweetness. Delicious beer that goes down easy. (284 characters)

bomber split at a 2013 yeti tasting. bottled on: JAN 09 2013

pours a very dark brown with a very dark brown head. first impression is espresso filled. continues to the drink and hangs long into the finish. a minor alcohol heat. very warming. sweet chocolate too. really good shit. the coffee is drying and makes this big beer even more drinkable.

probably my favorite yeti of the group. the oak didn't have as much of a presence compared to the massive espresso flavor, but that is not a bad thing. get some. (511 characters)

Doin' it at Haven with my #1 bartender in Orange, CA.

...20 minutes later after having let this bad sucker properly warm up... Ok, and... aite, just aite. It's not "Starbucks bad," but it sure as hell ain't coffee from a civet bean. This sucker is more like your local hippie coffee shop; it definitely makes the cut, but is Raul trippin? Not at all.

The main man would love a thicker texture and more presence in the espresso department.

Picked up a bomber of this beer at the local grocery store for $11.99.

A- Pours a thick and viscous dark black color that comes out slowly. The head on this beer is a fantastic brown that reminds me of the head on coca cola. When held up to light this beer is opaque. Leaves some lacing on the glass as you drink it.

S- The smell is sweet as well as a little bit of bitter. Chocolate and espresso come forward. This beer smells powerful and delicious.

T- The taste is sweet but also well balanced with hops. Great deal of coffee and dark chocolate flavor.

M- This beer is actually a little bit more medium bodied than I had expected. It makes it very drinkable and delicious. Carbonation is light and it finished with bitter espresso flavors.

O- This beer was really fantastic. I loved every bit of it and cannot wait to have it again. It is one o those imperial stouts that you have to try if you are a fan of the style. (927 characters)

After having the yeti chocolate last night I was excited to try this version. Overall quite similar and both very good. Pours black with a velvet mocha head that leaves nice dark lace on the lace on the glass. Has a sweet milk chocolate smell to it that has burnt caramel and coffee notes. Taste very similar, upfront sweetness with a great smooth yet slightly bitter coffee notes in the back. Great consistecy and easily a beer i'd buy again (442 characters)

A: Extremely dark brown with ruby appearing at the fringes. Shallow mocha head that all but vanishes, doesn't leave much lace either. Only a small amount of carbonation visible.

S: The espresso is equally matched by the oak, with dark roasted malts giving it a bitter backbone.

T: The oak takes center stage this time, roasted malts and espresso working to back it up nicely. Only a tiny amount of vanilla is present; I do wish there was more. The flavors are still very well balanced, and the bitterness is intense but not nearly overpowering and is also countered by a touch of sweetness. Good length of the finish with some chocolate and espresso notes.

M: Silky with moderate carbonation- just enough to give it zest but not enough to interrupt the smoothness. I always like my stouts thick-thick, so subjectively it could have more viscosity, but pretty hefty regardless of that.

O: An awesome beer, and for a great price. I already had their oak aged IS and trusted them with the barrels, and in this one they proved that they also know how to balance easy-to-oversell flavors like coffee. Very palate-pleasing, great look and feel, and dark enough to put hair on your chest without tasting its bitterness for hours afterwards. Try it with breakfast! (1,260 characters)

Bottled in January 2012. Totally black in color. Poured with a thick, milk chocolate colored foam that slowly reduced to a wispy cap that left random sticky lacings on the glass. Sweet, mellow vanilla, dark roasted malt, rich, dark chocolate and freshly ground coffee aromas. Rich, thick, smooth feel. Dark, roasted malt and sweet chocolate flavors up front with hop bitterness on the edges. Flavors mellow through the middle as chocolate and vanilla flavors take over. Finishes with dark roasted coffee and malt flavors with vanilla beneath and hop bitterness on the edges. Incredibly smooth and mellow flavor and feel. (620 characters)

bottles hit NY not all that long ago, enjoyed from a great divide snifter.

bottled 1/9/2013 (my wedding anniversary).

a - brew poured a silky, shiny black with a big head (dropped the bottle before opening it, so it was definitely lively at my own fault). great shine and look.

s - oaky hops on a stout. coffee is in there as well. the coffee is a nice compliment to the oaky hoppy stout.

t - gourmet espresso beans. vanilla. hops. oak. chocolate. stout. happiness in a glass. really amazing.

m - SUPER smooth. easy drinking. just a homerun.

o - overall, probably my favorite yeti to date. just phenomenal. not a bad beer in the series, but this one is just killer. the espresso and oak and yeti...oh my. (710 characters)

Nose: strong coffee, strong roasty barley. To much roasty-ness going on, a bit overpowering.
Palate: coffee and roast up front, big surprise. after thinking about it for a bit too long a bit of vanilla became reconizable. there was a bitterness from the hops, but I could not get much hop flavor, not that I would want any, but the bitterness was a bit superfluous.
Finish: burnt, roasty, and a little more vanilla. dulled hop hints.
Overall: a highly unbalanced beer. The malt profile did not complement the coffee, it just all got together to make a very roasty/burnt taste. (576 characters)

Poured Espresso Oak Aged Yeti into a Belgian Tulip.

A - Pours black as midnight with a half of finger of mocha head.

S - Wow, whiskey, coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolates. This thing smells ridiculous.

T - Wow again, and no apologies. This is the shit. Wonderful, coffee up front with bitter chocolates, vanilla. Very nice.

M - Smooth beer, medium carbonation, medium mouthfeel. Wish it was a bit fuller for a Imperial, but nice nonetheless.

O - Nice brew from Great Divide. Highly recommended! Cheers! (510 characters)

2009 vintage.

Pours deep, dark, and full of mystery.

Smells like morning - fresh coffee percolating with a hint of vanilla. Not the coffee vanilla bomb I expected - chocolate, roasted chicory, and malted milk balls.

Smooth and lush flavor and texture. The age has calmed the harsh alcohol edges and mixed the espresso and oak vanillins just right.

Overall definitely a beer I will revisit after a couple years in the cellar. (429 characters)

A: Pours a very thick opaque jet black in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the sides of the glass and some very faint crimson highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy extremely dark mocha head made up of moderately sized bubbles that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of deeply roasted dark and chocolate malts with stronger aromas of espresso beans. There is also a light to moderate aroma of oak.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of deeply roasted dark and chocolate malts which are followed by some strong flavors of espresso (both freshly brewed as well as almost like the chocolate covered beans themselves). Light to moderate amounts of oak flavors towards the finish as well. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of bitterness in the finish which lingers for a moderate amount of time.

M: Just shy of full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth and coats the entire inside of your mouth with some light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: For a big beer like this one (high ABV), the alcohol is extremely well hidden and that makes it easier to drink then some of the others in the style (DIS). Nice flavors of coffee/espresso that are very complementary to the flavors and aroma of the beer without overpowering or dominating it. Really an enjoyable world class beer. (1,519 characters)

This looks very much the the original oak-aged Yeti: rich, thick, dark as night and thick as motor oil. The brown head, a little bit darker in this version, might reach just a little higher off the pour from the tap; it stands and sticks hard. This stuff leaves lacing clinging to the snifter it's served in very nicely.
The espresso is in there, not as big and bold as I might expect (until it warms) but very nicely integrated. Otherwise, it takes on the same barrel character and oaky quality as the oak-aged, though the dryness and the roast, along with coffee notes, overcome the sweetness a touch in the nose. When you get to the flavor, though, this one's every bit as layered and complex as I'd hoped after trying the original oaked Yeti. Some char, coffee, cocoa, wood, vanilla and dark fruits lead into a finish that includes just enough hops to even it out and give even more depth.
The feel is still big, thick, rich and robust in a full body, though it goes slightly dryer this time. A bit of char going into the finish gives it something only very slightly astringent in the otherwise perfect mouthfeel. (1,118 characters)

Pours like black ink. Thick and viscous. Tight two finger milk chocolate head. Head fades but stays at a finger's thickness and leaves nice lacing down the glass.

Nose is strong bitter coffee, woody notes from the oak, chocolate, sweet malts... More chocolate and coffee. Very nice. A bit boozy also.

Taste is bitter coffee up front. Some bittersweet chocolate follows along with some woody notes from the oak chips, but not overpowering at all. Most of the oak aged beers I've had recently have been way overpowering on the oak. This is a nice change.

Mouthfeel is just as a stout should be. Big and chewy. Light carbonation.

Overall this is a great brew from a great company and definitely worth a try. (712 characters)

Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a stout/porter glass.

Appearance - 5.00 - Looks great! Beer itself is pitch black with a 3 finger deep brown head of fine bubbles that leaves an excellent lacing of perfect rings on the glass. This beer is probably the best I've seen of it's class.

Smell - 4.75 - Wow, really clean coffee/espresso/roasted smell with hints of chocolate, vanilla, cream. Like a nice coffee from Starbucks in beer form.

Taste - 5.00 - Creamy, roasty malts that taste of chocolate, espresso, coffee, vanilla beans. Nice bitterness balances it out, almost a little citrusy at points. The beer itself is so smooth it's hard to believe, equal to or greater than Ten Fidy.

Mouthfeel - 5.00 - A creamy, huge beer with a nice alcohol warmth that would keep me warm if I was anywhere other than Arizona. This beer is just the right amount of bitter and leaves a bitter aftertaste w roasted flavors.

Overall - 4.75 - I'm not sure if I should just give it a 5, it's basically perfect. So complex and beautiful, and readily available for those who want it. At 10 dollars a bomber this is a good deal too, and I've never said that for a 10 dollar 22 oz bottle before. I guess I would say it's on a level with the great Belgian Quadruples, and I feel pretty comfortable saying that. (1,292 characters)

This beer pours an opaque black with a slight brown hue. Not very much head, but a very considerable amount of lacing given the lack of head.

Smells wise I can pick up on some coffee notes, no dark fruit or anything though. Its got a toasty malt smell going on, not too strong, tiny bit of boozyness you can pick up once the head settles.

Flavor wise the roasted coffee really shines, it dominates the flavor but its not overpowering. There is still a good amount of malt and the chips they aged it on come out and linger along at the end. Very well balanced, I've had a handful of other oak aged brews and this one has just the right amount of oak flavor.

Mouthfeel was nice, slick and oily, very little carbonation, goes down real smooth.

Great beer, exceeded my expectations. (782 characters)

Appearance: Pours with a rich mocha brown head. Head retains on edges of the glass. Low carbonation active in the glass.

Smell: A very rich mix of chocolate and oak. Very dark rich barley malt character. Black licorice and molasses sweetness. Subdued overall but excellent.

Taste: The front is sweet malt, caramel, and chocolate. A slightly funky oak body mixes with some brighter then expected hop tones. This is excellent, tones flush together wonderfully.

Mouthfeel: Heavy traditional stout feel on the palate. Malt and oak weigh heavy on the tongue.

Overall: An elite imperial stout. The darkness of this beer mixes well with added flavors. Not too sweet, not too heavy. (679 characters)

Poured from tap at the brewery. Deep rich black with tan head...it looks like black coffee. Smell is deep roasted espresso and chocolate...smells amazing. Taste is roasted espresso and rich chocolate. .its so smooth. Hints of booze keep ploying with you but uts an awesome brew. One I probably wouldn't want to age as the espresso is just so good. (347 characters)

A- Thick, dark mocha head that sticks around for about a min. Opaque black in color. Zero light coming through. Wonderful lacing. Ring of retention hangs around the whole time. Just a flat out beautiful looking stout!

S- Rich coffee beans, touch of wood, milk chocolate, toffee, faint vanilla. Pretty intense aroma here. Booze ever so slightly makes its way in the end. Some fruity esters. More malt vs espresso than I figured, but not all bad.

T- Robust flavor profile. Big time espresso/coffee character to start it off. Oak settles in nicely. Waves of complexity. bitterness. Finish is surprisingly more harsh than I expected. Overpowering toast? Strong hop bill? A little perplexed by this.

M- Full body, big beer that as viscous as can be. Thick, rich, creamy. A bit boozy as the alcohol is certainly present. Goes down fairly easy though for how big it is. Dry to the next sip.

O- This was a delicious beer and a puzzling one at the same time. Just when I thought it was going to be top of its class, the finish didn't follow though with the high bar set by the start and feel. An impressive stout nonetheless, but just missed the "tell all your friends about it" mark for me.
