22 oz bomber, poured into a Weizen glass.

A - Beautiful deep black color with a three-fingered creamy brown head. Head lasts forever and leaves heavy lacing.

S - Great smell, Roasted sweet espresso, chocolate milk, and a bit of alcohol.

T - Delicious taste that mimics the smell of roasted sweet espresso, chocolate and a hint of licorice. Taste lingers, mostly licorice and coffee, but is not cloying.

M - Full-bodied and a little syrupy, but also amazing refreshing and clean.

D - Wonderful Imperial stout in the Callie tradition, which is to say, non-traditional, very drinkable and full of flavor. Highly recommended.

Bottled on Jan. 10th, 2011 (7 months prior to tasting).

A- Pitch black with a towering milk chocolate head that retains a thick blanket, lacing nicely.

N- Smells like a rich, velvety milk chocolate bar with malt balls. Nice balanced woodiness with some vanilla notes. Also some spicy coffee poking out from underneath. Mouth watering.

T- Lots of spiciness right off the bat. Chocolate malt with a mix of malty and coffee roast. Then comes some drying oak with a hint of vanilla. Bitterness is firm but smooth and is a mix of oak and roasty coffee. Long roasty, oaky finish with darker shades of vanilla coming to light as the boldness of the beer dies down. Subtle grassiness in the finish as well. Spiciness remains into the aftertaste, with a tingle on the back of the throat. There has to be another ingredient they're not telling us about. Maybe some cayenne like the Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti?

M- Medium body, velvety mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, with a bittersweet finish.

D- Overall, a delicious after-dinner treat. Assertively spicy, which blends well with the coffee, but definitely originates from something else. Incredible beer though, lots of bitter/dry complexity that would pair well with chocolate desserts. Maybe even pancakes.

First beer of the day!

Pours a dark, dirty motor oil...awesome! Brown head that lingers throughout the entire consumption. Not one bit of light coming through this brew.

Aroma is amazing. Heavy coffee aroma with chocolate and toffee notes. Slightest bit of oak character in the smell, but very very nice. Balanced.

Taste lived up to my expectations. Smooth. Marshmallow meets chocolate and coffee. Oak character is minor, but I think it works well. Great Lingered coffee flavor!

Awesome first brew of the day.
