It has a really interesting color to it, really thick for a farmhouse ale. The smell was a bit off putting, almost a sour, but the taste is fantastic in combination. And there's a very fine citrus coating on the tongue afterwards, which is not unpleasant.

Pours a hay like yellow color with a small head. The smell is of coriander, strong coriander. The coriander was there on the taste, but not dominate. Mellow even. Wheat/light grain taste. Feel was fine. Nothing impressive but nothing egregious.

Overall a good beer.

Pours Pale hazy straw with hints of pink grapefruit. Small head that fades quick. Mild yet pleasant aroma of bananas and clove surrounded by strong wheatiness. Flavor has strong yeast presence with more banana and spices. Moderate carbonation that fades pretty quick. An enjoyable saison that would probably be even better with a slightly higher amount of carbonation.

Enjoyed at brewery on tap
Appearance: Yellow Cloudy, light, White head
Aroma: Very grainy, apricot
Taste: Starts out very malty, then sweet apricot, finishes with other fruit characteristics with a mild sourness,
Complexity: well balanced
Overall: a very good beer!

Enjoy this brewer.
Poured from bottle into chalice.

A: Pale, very hazy yellow with rapidly vanishing head that leaves little lace.

S: Sweet + yeast with sugar and banana. Vanilla custard, clove and white pepper.

T: Follows smell but opens to a more complex pallate. Again, lemon, banana, parfait, custard. Fairly sweet taste w custardy wheat and rice. Finish in dry direction with pepper and spiciness. Complex. Notable. Nice.

F: Moderate carbonation, medium body. Very good at cask temp.

Brewer doesnt let me down here. Suitably complex and developing as it comes to cask temperature. Must try.

Mmmm! This is a really flavorful farmhouse ale. Best I've had yet, and I've tried quite a few this past summer and fall.

It's got a nice spice to it that isn't overpowering and lights up the flavor buds on my tongue. Excellent beer!

I love this beer. Fresh is funky, yet refreshing at the same time.

This may blow some folks' minds, but I actually recently aged a six-pack for a year (via a similar experiment via Great Divide's Founder, Brian Dunn), and it turned into a slightly tart, dry beer, entirely different than the original.

Anyway, it's a great beer, always worth ordering when you're looking for some farmhouse kick, along with some funky flavor.*

*I wrote this three-sheets to the wind, but stand by it whole-heartedly.

Poured into a chalice: color is gold, head is feint and thin then dissipates to nothing.

Aroma is wheat, biscuit, malts and some light fruitiness from the fermentation

Taste is well balanced in malt sweeter flavors and dryness from the farmhouse yeast

Mouthfeel is sweet at first then drying and crisp

On tap at TCB in Iowa City, served in a pint glass.

A: A cloudy, hazy gold beer, which had no head to speak of when it arrived. Lacing was minimal as well.

S: Smelled as a wheat beer using Belgian yeast might, along with a metallic sour note.

T: The taste followed the smell rather closely: a solid wheat beer laden with Belgian-esque yeast and a citric-metallic sourness. The taste opened with lemon and wheat, with the sour flavors developing through the middle and lingering on the finish.

M: Verging on medium-bodied, with lovely carbonation.

O: Not a bad saison. Would drink again.

A. Average poor ¼ inch white head. Cloudy gold in color.
S. Sour, barley, yeast, floral, citrus notes.
T. Sour yeast, tart, lemon, rust, and metal. After taste leaves floral notes.
M. Cool, crisp, gritty.
O. This is a very good rendition of a Saison Farmhouse ale. I recommend drinking Colette while eating bratwurst with sauerkraut. The problem about this beer review is me, I personally think Saison’s taste like rusty rebar dipped in a batter of yeast. Good buzz for only 7.3% ABV.

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy light straw colored body.
The aroma lemon and "brett". Smells nice.
The taste has a strong bitter and sour start, smooths out and finishes with a mild lemon bitter note.
The texture is fizzy with a lighter body.
Fizzy and enjoyable.

Cloudy light gold pour with a small white head. Aroma has light notes of yeast, grain and clove. Taste has funk, lemon, yeast and banana upfront backed by a a nice clove flavor. Can also taste some biscuit and a hint of bitterness. Light to medium body with light carbonation. Finishes with tastes of lemon and light clove lingering for a bit.

Had this on tap in 12oz snifter. Smell is sweet, fruity, and dry. First thing I notice with the taste is belgian yeast twang that of what you'd get in a belgian tripel. The yeast calms down as it warms up and develops a nice spice/pepper flavor which pairs nicely with the citrus/pineapple/bright fruit flavors . Overall this is a really nice saison with the refreshing fruity characteristics that is making me start to enjoy the style alot more. The funky yeast can be the hardest part of enjoying this style, but the yeast here mellows out nicely, so I 'd definitely recommend this to people who are on the fence for the style. (89/100)

A: Cloudy pale gold with a nice head of foam stacked on top of the beer, dense and creamy.
S: Highly fruity aroma with some light clove notes.
T: Definitely on the fruity end of Belgian yeasts, this is packed with ripe grape and pear notes. Phenols are fairly light, as is hop bitterness. Somewhat sweet finish.
M: Lots of carbonation, as expected.

Saison is a pretty open style, but I generally expect more phenols as well as more hops. All the best examples have that.

Poured into a balloon glass.

Look: A hazy burnt straw colored body. A white head disappears leaving only a ring with light spots of lacing.

Aroma: Very sugary sweet, yeast dominates, banana peel, fruits.

Taste: A tart opening leads to a grainy and yeasty body. Some banana is present. A somewhat tart finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, dry.

Overall: I just bought a single bottle of this, and I'm glad. It's a fine brew, but I wouldn't want this very often.

12 oz bottle into a wine glass.

A: Pours a cloudy straw color. The head is a finger high, with an off-white shade and frothy texture. Retention is decent for the style, but the soapiness of the head means there isn't a huge amount of lacing left behind.

S: Decently rustic - a trait missing from too many 'Murican-made saisons. The yeasty notes are big, but not overpowering. Aside from the breadiness, I'm also getting some subtle pepper notes (and even a touch of sesame seed). Behind that lie touches of wheat and lemon. No frills, but hits all the saison notes properly.

T: There's a candied sweetness to start I didn't pick up on the nose. Its finish is decently bready, and even a bit rustic. Pouring the dregs in really improves the flavor profile - it's less sweet, more lemony, and more rustic. Hell, it's even complex. GD did a good job of nailing some of the more 'unusual' notes a saison can achieve (such as sesame seed, or hell, even a bit of stank-ass cheese) without resorting to brett or barrel-aging.

M: A bit sweet and heavy for a saison. It has a richer feel than most proper (read: the ones coming from Belgium) saisons - so much so, in fact, that it feels like a tripel at times. It isn't very light or refreshing by the standards of the style. Carbonation is on the lower side.

O: If it were a bit less hefty-feeling, this would easily be right there with Dupont. As it stands, it's still a very good saison - one that ranks very highly among the 'Murican examples, in fact. Plus, it's in six packs. A rock-solid saison in six packs? Damn right I'll be all over it.

A: hazy light/pale yellow with some edge foamy head

S: banana is the predominate smell, but also some peach and a little herb (which I am horrible at distinguishing)

T/M: in a race, I think the light lemon taste is noticeable first, followed by a little banana taste. These are subdued by a nice dose of carbonation. The overall feel is light and refreshing. The fruit tastes from the beginning fade to a nice light what I believe is a clove-tinged, mildly dry ending

O: I like the lightness in everything about this beer. Nothing is overpowering, which presumably makes it a well balanced beer. I will definitely grab this for a change of pace, but it won't be in the regular rotation.

A: yellow. Mostly clear with a slight haze. Medium fuzzy-foamy head. Thick lacing.

S: bread dough. Apple cider'ish.

T: fruity ester. Lemon. Dry.

M: high carbonation. Medium low body. Refreshingly tart and crisp.

O: great beer. Would buy again.

Poured from 375ml bottle into a larger glass on my last night in Virginia Beach.
It poured with a small head that lasted most of the drink. Colour was off yellow.

Smell was classic earthy farmhouse - almost herbaceous.

Taste was refreshing with a little citrus on the pallet. No spice detected and was missing the farmhouse funk of other saisons. Not sure of this is good or bad as I am still developing an appreciation of this style of ale.

After a couple of stinking hot days in VB I found this to be an awesome beer. I could see Monsieur Perrier LaPadite downing one of these after a long day toiling on his farm, rather than the milk he shared with Hans Lada in Inglourious Basterds.

This lighter style of saison is more to my liking and will look for it again.

Bottle bought from chucks in seattle. Bottled on May 27 2014. Thin white head that fades immediately. Smells of biscuit malt, sweet, earthy with a hint of spice. Tastes bready, with a dry spicy finish. Good example of a saison but there is a flavor that I can't quite put my finger on which sticks out and makes it less tasty than others. I'd like more hop character on the finish.
