Notes/Commercial Description:
Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is another revered incarnation of our legendary imperial stout. We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. Another great Yeti? Hell yes.

Pours black as crude oil and almost as viscous. The darkest head I have ever laid eyes on. Seriously, cocoa powder dark. Big head developed from my pour into a pint glass, over 2 fingers. Dissipated to about one finger after a minute, kind of clumpy result before settling at a thickish film. Good lacing though.
Smell is awesome. Rich roasted malts, dark chocolate, smoke, whiskey/rum, dark fruits (raisins and plums), wheat, just the whole darn fruitcake up in here! Phenomenal balance and complexity, truly one of the best noses I've ever whiffed.
Taste is dark chocolate, roasted/toasted malt, wheat, the dark fruits, coffee, smoke and whiskey. Again, the balance and complexity here are top of the charts. Didn't notice any cayenne or any other pepper at all. Sad face.
Full-bodied, lightly effervesced, smooth with a drying finish. A faint medicinal note appears in the aftertaste. Warming from the smell nearly. The faintest whiff of pepper showed up very late in the aftertaste, like one pepper walked by the tank while it was fermenting. An amazingly good beer, even better than the original in my estimation.

A. Dark, dark brown, nearly black. An aggressive pour yielded a small amber head that retreats to a minimal film. No laces.

S. Chocolate, coffee, neutral oak, dark roasted malts all at noticeable levels. Hints of vanilla. Mild aroma.

T. The taste follows the nose consistently. A noticeable bitterness, not at all sweet. Major notes of coffee, dark malts, neutral oak, and some hops. No booze. A moderately bitter ale.

M. Moderately smooth, moderate carbonation, medium body.

O. Very balanced and consistent. Excellent. Highly recommended.
