Notes/Commercial Description:
Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is another revered incarnation of our legendary imperial stout. We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. Another great Yeti? Hell yes.

look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Bottled 3/19/12, poured into a snifter

A-pours pitch black with a small fizzy dark tan head that reduces to a ring around the glass, some thin, short lasting lace left behind

S- roasty and chocolaty nose, light charcoal, lactose, cocoa powder, dark cherry. There is some oak character coming through that gives a hint of vanilla and a woodsy/earthy tone

T- dry bitter-sweet chocolate flavors with some toasty char coal flavors, there's a slightly tart dark cherry fruitiness that kicks in mid-palate and finishes dry with coffee/chocolate and a faint flavor of oak, peppery burn on the linger

M- medium-syrupy body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and finish, big alcohol burn on the linger

O- I was surprised at how much the heat of the pepper came through at the end, It makes me wonder how hot it would have been fresh. Overall, I enjoyed regular Yeti more

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

LOOK: Pours really dark with a mocha creme head that laces the glass expertly. Decent clarity as far as sediment, but make no mistake, there's no seeing through this beer.

SMELL: Big and roasty. Lots of alcohol, black licorice, and dark chocolates.

TASTE: Chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oaky tannins, and booze. The strength of the beer is more tame in the flavor. Oak, raw chocolate, char and heavy malts. As it warms more chocolate and vanilla come out, getting close to candy bar and roasted marshmallow status. A small heat builds in your throat and belly from the heat of chiles and alcohol.

FEEL: Full bodied, medium carbonated, completely rich beer.

OVERALL: Chocolate Stout aged in oak with peppers. There's alot there.
