Poured from 22 oz bomber into a tulip.
Appearance: utterly black with a thick 2-3 finger dark tan head, with an attractive lace. Very nice.
Smell: nice roasted grains with a distinct and pleasant chocolate aroma.
Taste: oakey and chocolatey. I would say this is a very aptly named beer. The oak is actually more prominent than the chocolate, or at least it seems so because it's such a foreign flavor in a big stout. The oak combines very nicely with the alcoholic fruitiness; the chocolate simply complements the existing roasted malt characteristics. A very interesting flavor set, but I like it.
Mouthfeel: thick, creamy, almost unctuous. I highly approve.
Drinkability: this beer is tasty but very thick and very huge.
Serving type: bottle
