Brewed with heavy handed additions of Pacific Northwest hops, this beer is gently aged on French and American oak resulting in a wonderful balance of bitterness, caramel sweetness, vanilla, and undertones of pine and citrus.

Poured from the bottle into my DFH Snifter. Last of the 6 pack. Kind of sad to see this one leave.

A--Poured a deep orange color with lots of light shining through. There was a vibrant white head that was incredibly fluffy. Dissipated rather slowly, leaving a small head. Little bit of lacing throughout the beer.

S--Lot of oak on the nose. That was to be expected. Then comes some vanilla notes. Grapefruit and orange peel follow, and it finishes with a nice hop bitterness.

T--Wooden hops. The bitterness of the hops comes through, but it is masked by the heavy amount of wood on the tongue. The beer is a balanced flavor. Sweet flavors of citrus and vanilla complement the hops nicely.

M--Medium bodied. It is a thick mouthfeel, but not completely viscus. There is no carbonation to speak of. The aftertaste is a very pleasant hop flavor.

O--This is a really good IPA. I cannot detect the 7.10% at all. I could see myself drinking several of these before the alcohol actually caught up to me. There is, however, a bit too much wood flavor for me. It overpowers the hops, which I never enjoy.

12 oz.

Pours a clear light amber color, white filmy lacing for a head.

Smells of rich bready malts and caramel with a soft piney hop resin.

Tastes of bready malt, caramel, light oak, and a piney and citrus hops.

Full body with stinging carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

A very nice and tasty IPA with some good aroma and body. One of the better IPAs I've had and well worth trying.

This is such an interesting IPA. Aged in oak gives it a really different--nice--toasty balanced flavor with a really nice long finish. You can definitely taste the oak but it is in no way prominent. Just there in the background offering a long nice finish.

Great hoppy backbone as you would expect in a Great Divide IPA but does not have the usual citrus notes. In fact I'd be interested to know if they used a slightly different hop lay up for this from their normal IPA or of the oak had that much of an influence. Either way it works.

A real drinker. Plus a value at $8.99 a six.
