Served in a snifter.
Appearance: Clear red amber with slights haze from the pour. Off-white head maybe 1/3" with a hard pour and light bubbles to its frame.
Smell: Very light maple hop scent. Comes and goes.
Taste: Can you say awesome? Very good relaxing bitterness offset with a bit of sweetness to it. Has maple syrup likeness to it that is very addicting and perfect for this weather we're having.
Mouth: Medium body, feels light with averse at best stickiness.
Overall: i haven't read a review yet for this beer but I can see the reviews being a over the place. Definitely more of a warm weather beer, really doesn't need tweaking and honestly I would be glad to buy another bottle. Salud.

A - A very active pour yields just about two fingers worth of slightly late to develop rich and creamy khaki colored frothy goodness... Limited retention gives way to a full uniform slightly thick veil of creamy lacing... The color is a slightly murky medium-to-dark mahogany... Mostly still with just a stray carbonation bubble or two seen streaking at the top of the glass... A very nice looking brew and spot on for the style...
S - Malt bomb!!! Yes, please... Bursting at the seems with toffee and caramel goodness... Brown sugar... Fruit cake... Candied pecans... Some light milk chocolate notes... A very subtle smoke presence... Very enticing...
T - As expected this one is all malts through and through... Sweet rich caramel... Brown sugar... Toffee... Fruit cake... Light maple syrup... A faint woody component... There is a subtle but pleasant smoke presence that emerges and lingers on the finish...
M - Light to medium bodied... Very limited carbonation... Smooth and sleek... Perhaps a bit on the thin side of the ledger...
D - A most outstanding Doppelbock which shouldn't be a surprise coming from a fine brewery like Great Divide... The only real constructive criticism is that a bit more of a robust mouthfeel would go a long way to making this offering truly world class... With that aside, this is still an terrific well rounded lager with lots to offer to all those who encounter it...
