Had this poured into a pilsner glass. Pretty nice witbier, possibly a touch underrated. The look is a very light haze, it almost looked clear at the thinner part of the bottom of the glass. Not much of a head here either. The aroma and taste matched very well, very light cloves and soft citrus. Solid.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Cloudy pale gold in color, with a bright white head of airy foam.
Aroma-Faint spiciness
Taste-Coriander note, some spicy yeast. Light and refreshing enough, but flavors are a bit muddled. A middle-of-the-road witbier in a style with a lot of excellent examples.

Pours a cloudy pale yellow. The color is really subdued. Has a one finger bone white head.

Smells pleasant, with those common clove, citrus, fresh notes. Again, somewhat subtle or watered down smell.

Taste is actually quite nice. Peppery citric clove with a fresh very subtly floral note. Mouthfeel is dry and sharp. Makes me want to take another sip.

Overall, it's a good witbier. It just doesn't stand out in the crowd. On a hot day this one will drink perfectly. Otherwise, you may find it lacking some character.

On-tap at Fat Sully’s Pizza, Denver, CO:

Served in a pint glass:

The beer appeared a hazy darker straw yellow that produced a thick, creamy white head with good retention and a little lacing.

The beer gave off a light malty aroma...not much else.

The taste of the beer was a light Belgian malty flavor but with a funky flavor, I am not sure what that is.

The body of the beer was light and had a slight dry finish.

Overall, less than average…I actually sent it back as I thought that there was something wrong with it. I hope that I was wrong. I will give it another shot just to verify.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

A little T.E. Lawrence action on the label? Anyway, this stuff pours a hazy brass-straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises cracked wheat, dry corn, light egg, and light puffed rice. The taste holds notes of wheat, light coriander, light corn, and very light egg. Those last couple bits really hold this stuff back. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a wet feel. Overall, a sad, limp little wit, possibly the biggest downer I've yet had from Great Divide.

Bottled March 27 2013

Appearance pours a very pale golden color lik a wit or hoegarden, a bit hazy half a finger of white foam that seams to be lingering about.

Smell- honey citrus and some feet.

Taste crisp sparkling on the tongue the wheat provides some chewy-ness and body i taste coriander and a little bit of bitter orange but I may just be associating that with beers of this style. I also get a lot of clove on the back end of this one as well.

Mouthfeel Light bodied very fizzy. does linger a bit on the palate more than I would like

Over all I love the pairings listed on the bottle I do happen to agree with them gouda cheese, belgian waffles , kung pao chicken ! This is a good beer, dont let my review fool you, I would order another. I think this beer would compliment those pairing rather than stand on its own.

12 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a hazy yellow with a moderate white head, some solid spotty lace.

S: Nice notes of clove and wheat mallt, very fruity.

T: That wheat character is there initially, but then it gets a grungy earthy quality that's not so fun. The lemon and wheat tries to overcome this, but they're always clashing.

M: Light-bodied, crisp, biting carbonation.

O: Good at times, but never really comes together. The hops notes don't work here, there are so much better wits in the world.

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a clear glass tumbler. Bottled on Mar 27, 2013, on side of front label. Purchased at Knightly Liquors (Orlando, FL).

A: Very hazy golden yellow with 1-2 fingers of sticky, white tightly bubbled head with good retention and thick, crusty lacing.

S: The aroma is fairly classic although the clove note is pretty strong. There is a pretty strong Pilsner grainy maltiness with some flowery, banana yeast esters.

T: The flavor unfortunately follows from the nose in the clove department, it brings a weird bitter note to an otherwise mellow beer. The maltiness is clean Pilsner graininess with a softer wheat tangy note. But the clove yeast character is too strong and accentuates the overly bitter hopping. This one needs to get some revision.

M: Body is light with low-medium carbonation and the same strange bitter aftertaste.

O: Heyday is not one of GD's better brews. I can't think of a time I would select this one over Hoegaarden or Allagash White or Celis White. The clove is too strong and ruins an otherwise promising malty beer. A different fermentation temp or profile would be my first try -- an alternate yeast would be my next move.

A-Translucent bright straw yellow slightly carbonated one finger head

S-Wheat lemon, good deal of grass, clove and banana.

T-Wheat, grassy, orange, lemon, tad bit of clove and banana rounding it out.

M- Light not much carbonation, dry finish but a tad watery.

O-Not sure what they replaced to release this beer, but they should have kept their old offering.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a pale yellow color and a slightly cloudy consistency. There was a small amount of foamy head that lasted a fair amount of time. Average lacing.

S: An okay aroma of spices, malt, and some citrus. Slightly underwhelming.

T: Tasted like a pretty standard Witbier: Coriander, malt, a little lemon, some other spices as well. A tad on the thin side. Could have been a bit more well-rounded.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp, prickly finish. Light-bodied.

O: While this isn't the worst example of Wit I've ever had, it certainly wasn't the best. Not undrinkable, but there are better examples of the style out there.

Great Divide Heyday Belgian Style White Ale: I love wheat beers, so I was very glad to see this Belgian White offering from Great Divide. The body has a beautiful straw color with just the right amount of hazyness to it. The ample carbonation forms a frothy pure white head. I am looking at it now, half finished, the head is holding in there and the lacing is stellar. The big, big aroma sparkles with citrus, and has a hint of straw and earth.

The flavor is spot on white ale, and very good. A bit heavy in the malt, a little more crispness and this beer would be best in class. A very good offering from Great Divide, and may become my go to Belgian White as it is a local brew. But the Avery White Rascal is good as well. Though problem to have! Too many great versions of a hard to find style that I really like!

Bottled 3/27/13.

Pours a murky light yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, oats, and slight spice aromas. Taste is much the same with grain and spice flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable but very grain forward in the aroma and flavor.
