Much like its legendary predecessors, this Yeti is big, bold and dark. The addition of rolled oats softens Yeti’s notoriously roasty backbone and the small amount of raisins added in the brew kettle create a unique dark fruit character. Just as admired as those that came before it, Oatmeal Yeti Imperial Stout is a gentle beast.

L: Pours a dark oily black with a small tan head and no lacing on the glass.

S: Some nice fruitiness from the raisins, sweet chocolate and caramel, mix with some roasted grain.

T: Some nice chocolate, a slightly bitter toasted malt, some caramel, and some fruitiness from the raisins. The bitterness from the roasted grain is almost burnt.

F: Smooth and creamy large body.

O: Nice beer where the aroma is a little better than the taste.

So this beer has been in my closet for over two years and is nearly six years young with a June 2016 bottling mark. The new year seemed like a good time to knock it bout. Pours jet black with a wet cocoa head and delicious, complex nose: roasted, dark fruit, grapeskin, coffee, baker's chocolate, tobacco, and a hint of mustiness.

The texture is multitoned and assists in the flavor delivery. The main notes are date, blackcurrant, port, coffee, molasses, fudge, and a touch of smoke. Truly exquisite and enhanced by the smoothness. No oatmeal notes per se, but you can feel their influence on everything. Definitely worth keeping a cellar...

*Review of 33 month old bottle.*

Fantastic head production, and excellent retention. Big, frothy dark brown head sits atop a nutty ebony body.

Incredibly roasty and hoppy aroma, despite the age. Caramel, earth, grains, earthy hops, chocolate, and coffee; very much like an American Barleywine on the nose.

Flavor follows the roasty nose, although there is a ton of smoothness to the profile, as well. Sweet chocolate, red grapes, raisins, minor char, earthy hops, burnt caramel, and a bitter black coffee-like finish.

Smooth, rich, full bodied, and creamy on the palate, while still lively. Big and bold, it's not hiding the high ABV, but it's not overpowering in any way.

Lovely espresso color, with a thin tan head of dense foam. You can really smell the yeast on this brew, a little overpoweringly. Slightly metallic, sour, and hoppy. The taste is far more mild, with a lot going on. Bright and zesty, very alcoholic with a mellow roasty aftertaste. Sweet and complex, with enough sourness and bitter brown notes to round it out, this beer is tasty, though earns more merit on being a wild ride in its own right. 100% unique and satisfying.

A - Pours pitch black with a large tan head. Tons of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma roasted malts, espresso and bakers chocolate.

T - The taste is roasted malts, dark chocolate, espresso, oats and light dark fruits.

M - Medium/full body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a dry finish.

O - Really nice imperial stout. The flavors are rich and dark. Deceptively easy drinking at 9.5%.

Bottled 14 months ago.

Poured at 50ish degrees into a tulip. Near-black with a persistent finger of mocha head.

The nose is chocolate, raisin, leather, and wood.

The taste is chocolate, roasty malt, and faint raisin/grape. Medium bitterness even at over a year old.

The mouthfeel is medium+.

Mocha, light char, and dark fruit delivered in an overall smooth package.
