Had this on tap at the brewery. Poured a golden yellow, very clear, nice frothy white head that stuck around for a while. Smell was very earthy and crisp, clean malts and some bitter hop notes. Taste had small malt body up front, pretty one dimensional there and then nice crisp and bitter hop finish. Very simple but tasty and refreshing. Great summer/session beer.

poured into a pub glass,a light golden color, very clear.
The 1 inch white head dissipated into a foam ring around the glass.
A few tiny strings of bubbles rise to the top of the glass.
The aroma was clean, bisquity, the hop aromas were faint,a slight grassy note.
The taste was crisp and clean,a mild biscuit taste,a little tart and grassy, not a lot of hop character.
The mouthfeel was thin, with a dry slightly tart aftertaste.
A very drinkable beer, especially on a hot summer day.
Not a bad beer. It was almost like a BMC.
A bit more hops would have been nice.

I've had this beer before, but finally decided to review it.

This beer looks perfect! The bright, clear yellow beer, the fluffy white foam, the constant stream of fine carbon dioxide bubble, the everlasting lace left by each sip, it was exactly how a beer this style should be made to look like. And importantly, it was served in the proper glassware to accentuate the beauty of this beer.

The smell was clean, hop-forward with a little bit of malt sweetness. And it tasted that way too, but having an assertive Saaz hop bite that was spicy and a little grassy. The malt provided an underlying backbone to support the beer and provide a bit body.

I was looking for a thirst quenching beer after a hot day and I got it in this Pilsner

Dock Street- Royal Bohemian

A- Bright clear yellow with a big foamy head. Quick dissipation with a small amount of lacing.
S- Strong crisp grainy malt slight touch of sweet corn.
T- Big bold malt. Very grainy. Fresh cracked grains like oat, sunflower, spelt, and barley. A slight touch of lemon and orange poke through in the end. Slight grassy earthy hops mingle throughout but never imposing.
M- Strong bready grain malt makes a DRY beer! Sweet punchy flavors come out in the end.

Overall- What?! A Pilsner that I really enjoyed!? WOW, here's a beer that impressed someone who scoffs at Pilsners! Very flavorful and tasty. Awesome summer beer! If you like Pilsners buy this beer!

pours like a great pilsner...very pale, white head and simple, good lacing revealed as it settles pretty fast.

nice, but subtle, nose of...raspberries, perhaps?

taste is light, refreshing but pretty complex. at least not what i expected. mouthfeel is an interesting light/creamy. makes this downright drinkable as a session pils or with a great meal. or pub lunch. i can see this going with chinese easily.

a few more sips and i get almost an Urquell sense...plus bitter honey and sweet malt...nutty/seed overall sense, too.

though i still always will favor the masterpiece hophead extremes out there, this suggests another fine light and unique lager for the summer. i need to head out for some of this on tap.

Clear golden body. Creamy bright white head. Fair retention. Some minor lacing. Sweetish malt and floral hops greet you in the nose. It's more dextrinous in the mouth than one might expect, but it's not over done... medium bodied and crisp with a standard carbonation. The flavor is as the nose suggests with some very nice, grainy and sweet malt at the heart of it. The floral and spicy hops, however, are also present from start to finish, and really dress it up in a nice way. It's not complex, but neither is it intended to be. A touch more bitterness could lend it another component though; it is a touch sweet, but otherwise right on for the style. Great finesse for what's there though. The sweet edge is obviously intended, and it's really well-balanced with that in mind. Superbly drinkable.

On-tap at the brewery.

In a word: underrated. This is a fantastic pilsner full of malt and hops flavor that should be recognized for it's deliciousness. The malt lends a sweet, bready and nutty flavor, and that's met by a sharp and spicy hops flavor and bitterness that leaves a long trail of an aftertaste. Great drinkability and full-flavored - give it a try.

On tap @ the brewpub on 10/3/09. Served in a Pils glass.

Pours a HUGELY effervescent clear gold, topped with 2 fingers of brite-white foam. This has some of thee best retention that I've seen in a while. It just kept bubbling and bubbling, and looked beautiful paired with that clear gold color. The aroma is tight smelling with Pils malts, definitely more bready than sweet, along with fresh citrus and floral spice, which gives this a nice zesty pop in the nose.

The taste has (once again) a good firmness to the malts, with a big splash of lemony citrus and aggressive spicy hop character that STICKS in the mouth with an instense dry feel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a very crisp yet very smooth and creamy carbonation. Just a great mix of the two feels that kept this hugely drinkable.

A top notch American take on a Czech Pils, this was just SOLID with flavor and quite thirst quenching. I killed this glass in no time flat and could have pretty much kept going to this during the duration of our visit.

a: partially translucent beautiful honeyed gold. Nice bishops collar which dissipates quickly.

n: lemons along with strong spicy saaz hop perfume. Cracker malt base, buttered toast.

t: malt chunkiness up front which finishes hoppy. Spicy saaz tang with sweet and bitter buttered toast. "Green" tasting.

mf: "alive" feeling with prickly sensation with noticeable weight.

d: A+

A: Poured a medium golden-orange with a foamy, off white head that quickly settled to a sparse layering. Visible carbonation was light but steady.

S: The nose brought forth some nice bright hopping and citrus and was really nice.

T: The initial flavor yielded a bright sharp citrus hopping and oranges. The hopping was very dominant and clean with some honeymalt sweetness. The overall flavor was sharp and fresh in nature making for a solid example. Really liked this one.

M: light, with bright oranges coming through with a beautiful hopping. Carbonation is light and subtle on the tongue.

D: Definitly session material, Bright citrus and oranges with a clean sharp flavor and hopping makes this a joy to drink and definitely worth a try. I would buy a sixer of this easily.

12 oz bottle, given to me by my brother from his "Beer of the Month Club" selection. Unsure of date. Aggressive pour into plastic (I know, I'm sorry) pilsner glass gives about a two-inch head that stayed with me for a little while before becoming a ring, leaving moderate lacing. The color is golden, and crystal-clear. Smell is a faint aroma of sweet grains, maybe some honey with a taste of clean bitter hops in the front, some sweet grain in the middle, and a finishing-bitterness not unlike the beginning, quite clean. Mouthfeel is very light, with a crisp, clean carbonation. If I lived in this brewery's distribution area, I would seek this out often, especially in the spring and summer (Ironically, it's right at freezing right now with a 10 MPH N wind).

Pleasantly surprised. Picked up in Camden NJ, knowing nothing about it. When I found out it was a Matt (aka Saranac) product, I had high expectations for it. They were met. Nice color, foamy pale head (1/4 inch or so) and all malt in the nose. The taste is smooth malt with just a tiny hops presence. A really enjoyable, drinkable, and made me glad I had picked-up the 6'er. Only one problem... Can't buy it in my area. Rats.

Pours a crisp looking golden colour with a thinnish white head that leaves a trace of residue on the glass.

The aroma is mildly malty and a touch grassy, with a touch of floral, chalky sweetness. Fairly bland and average for the most part.

Flavour is a lot more of the same, with sweetness and chalkiness leading the way and a hint of general grain flavour mixed in throughout. Mouthfeel is light bodied and nice and crisp overall.

I was surprised at this one. Whilst not stellar, it's still got much more flavour than anticipated and is much more on point than expected as well. It's a basic one, but a decent one overall.

12oz bottle with a crookedly designed label. I'll also care to note that on the neck label this beer boasts itself as a "voluptuous pilsner."

Clear light gold in color with a respectable white head, which laces the glass only faintly.

The nose is weak. There's something there but there's not enough of it. A faint pilsner scent, no hop presence. The palate isn't very present either but it's better than a macro. I could probably switch beers on some of my Miller Lite-drinking friends and they wouldn't know the difference, perhaps saying, "This is tasting pretty good today!" I mean no disrespect to this beer by comparing it to Miller Lite, because relatively there's much more taste going on here. But on the wider scale it isn't much. It is, however, quite light and drinkable.

Single, twelve ounce bottle copped from Gary's in Madison...
Pours a medium-golden hue with a minor head that quickly dissipated and deposited a thin film of lacing around the edge of the serving glass...
Sweet, semi-grainy aroma with hints of wheat, and a nice mixture of malts and hops...
Crisp, clean, flavorful taste... Easily drinkable and a pleasure to down...
Good stuff from Dock Street...
Worth a shot...

Dock Street Bohemian Pilsner...on tap at the brewery.

Appearance-comes to me in a tall thin pilsner glass. Pale gold with a large foamy white head trapped with lace and bubbles. Attractive.

Smell-light hop aroma up front, alcohol and the sweet grain I associate with the style. Notable little traps of yeast and bits of malt bite.

Taste/Mouthfeel-medium mouthfeel, hops come in and provide some good flavor before being overtaken by the grain and alcohol mix associated with the flavors. Less sweet than most, a little watery on the way down, hops try to re-surface but are drowned away. Finishes with a last touch of grain.

Drinkability-lots of flavor here to like in a Pilsner and no real issues.

Overall-a well done pilsner, I like the hoppy variety of pils and this trends towards that style. Doesn't quite reach the heights of the giants like Prima or Sunshine but I like this a lot. A winner.

S- Sweet, light malts, wheat, biscuits, light fruity auroma

T- Honey, bready, pale malts, citrus, grassy, earthy, bitter finish

M- Light/medium body, medium carbonation, smooth, oily, slightly fizzy

D- Worthy trying

Good flavors but nothing really stands out with this one. Good overall, but not great.

Clear yellow in color with a fluffy 1.5" head. Some light lacing develops during the session. The aroma was minimal - only light malt and hay. The flavor was tame, as malts and bitterness seemed mild. Tiny notes of fruitiness were also detected. Smooth in mouthfeel with a slightly dry finish. I expected a bit more bite or crispness, but not bad.

The flavors nicely last on the tongue after swallowing. Nice carbonation levels. Nice drinkability since there is some nice flavors and it is light in body.
