Pours a nice golden yellow with a snowwhite head. Some faint lacing. Smells of lightly sweet malt with just a hint of noble hops.

Yeesh. The only flavors coming through here are sweet pale malt and some DMS. Nary the hint of noble hops here. OK, just a bit as it warms. Watery mouth. The sweetness and the thin mouth - almost nausea-inducing as it warms. I had a hard time getting through this one. Not a good pilsener, certainly shouldn't be calling itself Bohemian. Where's the hops? (488 characters)

The beer pours brilliant straw/golden, with a quickly dissipating white head.

The aroma is somewhat floral, but with notes of corn and an off putting grainy huskiness, indicative of a flaw in the brewing process (too high strike temp, oversparging?). There is a hint of diacetyl as the sample warms. I can detect the barest hint of a woody or spicy hop. The beer is clean, with no fruity esters or phenols.

The first taste is grainy and husky again, with evident tannins. The beer is malty and finishes a little flabby and sweet for a pilsner of any type, let alone a "Bohemian" Pilsner. There were no hops evident in the flavor, and too little hop bitterness.

In the mouth, the beer is of medium body and a bit fluffy. The slickness from diacetyl is noticeable. The carbonation is moderate. The tannic astringency is quite evident.

Overall, I found this sample wanting, first as a Bohemiam Pilsner, and second as any type of pilsner. (947 characters)

I couldn't be more underwhelmed. Poured from a bottle, it has no head to speak of and similarly has no fragrance to speak of. I actually checked the bottle to ensure it was a pilsner. It really didn't carry any of the pilsner characteristics I'm used to. No carbonation to speak of, and thin-bodied. Color is gold, but otherwise unremarkable.

Overall, this beer was mediocre, though I will give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again at a later date. (459 characters)

A: Pours a bud light esque yellow with a small white head that disappears in about 3 seconds. Not particularly attractive.
S: Corn, white wine, again, bud light esque.
T: Tastes better than it looks, though still not that impressive. Tastes reminiscent of white wine, with apple flavors and some corn-like sweetness. Finishes very clean with no thought of an aftertaste.
M: Smooth and slick, goes down easily.
D: It could easily be confused for a cheaper light beer, and it goes down like one. I could imagine enjoying these sitting outside on a nice hot day, but since I'm sitting inside on what was a nice day, its not anything special. (642 characters)

This bottle did not taste at all as I had remembered early tastings. Maybe a bad bottle?

Appearance is good and light. Nose is...well, not there. Having just tasted a real Czech pilsner, I missed the heft. Same for the taste as well, regretably. I am wanting to like this as much as I remember it, but no amount of wistfulness can bring back the remembered taste tonight. Sigh.

It feels thin in the mouth. If "drinkability" means the ability to toss down one after the other, this sucker is drinkable--I just don't WANT to drink one after the other. (551 characters)

This beer ran the line on average. It poured a dark straw color with a white head that built up. The head retention was not that great and quickly faded. The smell was a bit hoppy with mostly earthy tones presenting themselves. The taste was average, nothing jumping out from this beverage either malty or hoppy. A descent mouthfeel, not too light or too heavy for a pilsner. Very drinkable, goes down easy and leaves no aftertaste. A good session beer for those of us that avoid CMB. (484 characters)

What can you say about this beer, average. Light golden color with a fizzy white head. No retentention, no lacing. Pale malt smell with maybe the thinest trace of citrus if you really try to imagine that it's there. Taste is malty and that's about it. Fizzy mouthfeel. Just an average beer with nothing to make you want to come back. (333 characters)

Despite the crooked label, this beer pours a straight-up golden hue topped with a frothy ivory settling thin cap.

Metallic scents of water fountain offering and copper.

First swigs: Some grain and pilsner-esque scents. No macro nose. Light fresh water and smooth buttery white bread.

Last swigs: One dimensional at best. Partof a mixed case that was a Summer Mix. This is a convert beer at best. Nothing off yet nothing stellar.

Beer is good. Happy beering. (469 characters)

poured into a pub glass,a light golden color, very clear.
The 1 inch white head dissipated into a foam ring around the glass.
A few tiny strings of bubbles rise to the top of the glass.
The aroma was clean, bisquity, the hop aromas were faint,a slight grassy note.
The taste was crisp and clean,a mild biscuit taste,a little tart and grassy, not a lot of hop character.
The mouthfeel was thin, with a dry slightly tart aftertaste.
A very drinkable beer, especially on a hot summer day.
Not a bad beer. It was almost like a BMC.
A bit more hops would have been nice. (569 characters)

A nice above average offering. A crisp clean brew that pours out a crystal clear pale yellow with a fluffy white head that lingers for a little while and leaves some sticky thick lace as it withdraws. Aroma is clean with a hint of pale malt and some delicate floral hoppiness. Taste is crisp, mild and refreshing. This brew seems to be an attempted facsimile of a Czech pilsner. It is not far from that mark IMHO. It is light on the palate and very drinkable. (459 characters)

poured a golde yellow color with nice white puffy head that quickly fell and left nice lacing along the sides of the glass. Smell is very minimal with maybe a touch of citrus present. Taste is malty sweet and very refreshing. Finishes with a bit of hop dryness that is enjoyable with the malty taste. An unpretentious beer that has great drinkability. (351 characters)

12oz bottle with a crookedly designed label. I'll also care to note that on the neck label this beer boasts itself as a "voluptuous pilsner."

Clear light gold in color with a respectable white head, which laces the glass only faintly.

The nose is weak. There's something there but there's not enough of it. A faint pilsner scent, no hop presence. The palate isn't very present either but it's better than a macro. I could probably switch beers on some of my Miller Lite-drinking friends and they wouldn't know the difference, perhaps saying, "This is tasting pretty good today!" I mean no disrespect to this beer by comparing it to Miller Lite, because relatively there's much more taste going on here. But on the wider scale it isn't much. It is, however, quite light and drinkable. (789 characters)

Pours a crisp looking golden colour with a thinnish white head that leaves a trace of residue on the glass.

The aroma is mildly malty and a touch grassy, with a touch of floral, chalky sweetness. Fairly bland and average for the most part.

Flavour is a lot more of the same, with sweetness and chalkiness leading the way and a hint of general grain flavour mixed in throughout. Mouthfeel is light bodied and nice and crisp overall.

I was surprised at this one. Whilst not stellar, it's still got much more flavour than anticipated and is much more on point than expected as well. It's a basic one, but a decent one overall. (632 characters)

No mention of Matt on the bottle, but I believe the original founders of Dock Street have recently reaquired the rights to the name. The beer is being contract brewed by Matt under the "Old Dock Street Brewery" name.

This is a recent reintroduction of a beer that Dock Street used to brew in the past. I heard that the original was much different than this new version.

As for the beer, it poured bright, golden and clear. Topping the beer off is a creamy white head of foam. The aroma is somewhat musty and pungent with a fruity graininess. The taste is light, crisp and tangy. Nice malt presence, but I'm looking for more accent towards the hops. Hard to tell where the bitterness is coming from. Leaves an oily lemon coating on the tongue, with the slight aftertaste of stale grains. More fruity and less crisp than I expect, but overall not a bad American example of a classic style. (893 characters)

Part of my MicroBeerClub shipment received in late June.

This beer poured a yellow color, with little to no head but decent carbonation is showing. Nose is of sweet malts with a hint of lemon. Taste has a hint of lemon, grass, and malts with a slight hint of hops in the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, almost creamy. Overall drinkability is pretty good. This beer is going down well on a 106 degree Phoenix afternoon! (425 characters)

BOTM offering...

Pours straw yellow with a nice foamy head, a few fingers, good carbonation and a little bit of lacing. Smell consists of some nice light hops, citrus, and light wheats. Taste follows with well-balanced wheats, citrus, and floral hops. Very nice, very enjoyable. What a pilsner should be. (307 characters)

Clear yellow in color with a fluffy 1.5" head. Some light lacing develops during the session. The aroma was minimal - only light malt and hay. The flavor was tame, as malts and bitterness seemed mild. Tiny notes of fruitiness were also detected. Smooth in mouthfeel with a slightly dry finish. I expected a bit more bite or crispness, but not bad.

The flavors nicely last on the tongue after swallowing. Nice carbonation levels. Nice drinkability since there is some nice flavors and it is light in body. (508 characters)

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a foamy white cap that fades out; leaves waves of lace on the glass

Smell: Bready, with a faint hint of noble hops

Taste: Very bready, with a building noble hop presence by mid-palate; after the swallow, the breadiness dominates, leaving a slightly sweet element in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Easy to drink, but I would prefer a bit more noble hop presence (464 characters)

Dock Street Bohemian Pilsner...on tap at the brewery.

Appearance-comes to me in a tall thin pilsner glass. Pale gold with a large foamy white head trapped with lace and bubbles. Attractive.

Smell-light hop aroma up front, alcohol and the sweet grain I associate with the style. Notable little traps of yeast and bits of malt bite.

Taste/Mouthfeel-medium mouthfeel, hops come in and provide some good flavor before being overtaken by the grain and alcohol mix associated with the flavors. Less sweet than most, a little watery on the way down, hops try to re-surface but are drowned away. Finishes with a last touch of grain.

Drinkability-lots of flavor here to like in a Pilsner and no real issues.

Overall-a well done pilsner, I like the hoppy variety of pils and this trends towards that style. Doesn't quite reach the heights of the giants like Prima or Sunshine but I like this a lot. A winner. (904 characters)

On tap at Dock Street on 6/16/08.

A - Hazy golden/straw-colored body with two fingers of creamy, bone white head that held fairly nicely and left a bit of lacing. Lots of active carbonation present.

S - Fresh wheat-like aroma with a slight biscuity malt and mild lemon zest, followed by a more fruity aroma reminiscent of apple and white grape.

T - Malt is quite bready overall, and dominates the flavor. However, there is ample lemon zest, which provides a moderate bitterness. Some grassy hops are present as well as a mild fruit sweetness.

M - Pretty smooth and creamy texture with a bit of oily slickness. Medium body with mild carbonation for a pils.

D - Honestly, what pils isn't easy to throw back? Not the best pils I've ever had, but far from the worst. This one's a bit more smooth and thus less prickly and lively than your standard pils, but overall this is a pretty solid effort from Dock Street. (918 characters)

Pours a clear copperish color with an steady off-white head. The head retention is decent and leaves nice lacing along the glass. The aroma was mostly clean light malt, hint of honey. The taste is great with mostly biscuity flavor and a hint of honey and just a hint of hops. Very crisp and smooth. Very good brew IMO. I could hang with this more often. I don't drink Pilsners to often but this one is a keeper. (411 characters)

Pours out a bright, pale golden color with a sufficient head. Nose is grainy, pleasant malt with a nice grassy hop overlay. Clean and crisp malty flavor, but less bitterness than I expected from the aroma. Reasonably dry finish. Neutral texture with crisp, effervescent body.

Decent pils, nothing too special. (312 characters)

Single, twelve ounce bottle copped from Gary's in Madison...
Pours a medium-golden hue with a minor head that quickly dissipated and deposited a thin film of lacing around the edge of the serving glass...
Sweet, semi-grainy aroma with hints of wheat, and a nice mixture of malts and hops...
Crisp, clean, flavorful taste... Easily drinkable and a pleasure to down...
Good stuff from Dock Street...
