Saw this around on tap in Philly last year and I am excited it is back again. Got a growler at Whole Foods. I'm not gluten intolerant, but after a bunch of beers, it's the same effect.

Appearance is a very clear gold, lots of bubbles. Smell is sweet and a little apple-y. Taste is a little sweet, but not so apple-y, tart, and the carbonation is aggressive on the tongue, like a champagne...or sometimes like seltzer water. This is a nice beer to drink one or two of, but it doesn't quite hit the spot for long enough to drink all night. It's accessible enough for friends that "prefer" Miller Lite as we were at a craft bar and this was the most acceptable thing I could find for my only non-craft friend that night.

First had: on tap at Gullifty's, Wayne, PA

I had this on tap and it wasn't too bad, but if I had known it was a fruit beer, I probably wouldn't have ordered it. A bit too sweet for my taste. The first sip tasted almost like apple juice, and it didn't stray too far from that throughout. If that's your thing, then this would probably be a pretty good beer. Light and easily drinkable, I suppose, if that's what you're in the market for.

On Tap in a pint glass.

Sudan grass is a golden color that looks clean and delicious. A small white loose head that faded quick, leaving no lacing. The smell was that of apple cider and maybe some malts in the area. Nothing in terms of hops. The taste consists of a fruity beer focusing on apples and maybe some pear. This really did not remind me of beer, but i liked it. The feel is light, smooth and refreshing, good amount of carb. While good this is something that I probably wont order again.

A-Golden yellow with a thin white head that left little lace.

S-A pungent green apple aroma with a bit of musty malt.

T-Crisp and zippy with a pleasant tartness of green apple. A well recieved residual sweetness builds as you go.

M-Light bodied with a nice crispness, very refreshing.

D-Totally interesting stuff. A sorgum/toasted buckwheat brew that tastes really damn good. A nice beer for hot summer Philly days.

On-tap at the brewery

FTI - This is a gluten-free beer. If there's a better category, feel free to correct it. It's a clear, golden ale with no head and large bubbles. The main elements here are a fruity, cider taste along with nutty malt-like notes. The flavor isn't terribly complex, but this beer succeeds because it nails the mouthfeel. It manages a balanced mix of sweet and bitter where most gluten-free beers are a cloyingly sweet mess. Worth a try if you've got Celiac's or are just curious.
