Visited on Monday, 21SEP09, another warm, sunny September day on my recent trip. From the Oberschleißheim S-Bahn stop, it's about 10 to 15 minutes on foot, bringing you by the fabulous Schloss Oberschleißheim en route.
Entering the grounds, the bier/food stands are on your left, the main restaurant is straight ahead near the rear, and the biergarten extends out to your right. The main restaurant is housed in a long, white, 2-story building on the back side of the grounds. Being that the weather was fabulous, and Monday was the restaurants Ruhetag, I can't comment on what the inside looked like. Outside? Well, combine long wooden tables and benches, more than a few big-ass chestnut trees, and some stands offering food and bier and what have you got? Heaven on earth! The biergarten area itself was probably about 150' by 200', with plenty of shade. Typical pork and chicken offerings are on the menu, and this is another Hofbräu biergarten. On tap here were the HB Hell, Dunkel, Hefeweizen, Dunkelweizen and Oktoberfest. A litre of the latter emptied 7.40EU from my wallet. The staff at the food/bier stands were friendly and efficient (not to mention cute!!). Yet another place in München to get away from it all, if you need to. Zum Wohl!!
