Very close to the city center. A very pleasant venue but for H-P beers I would go to Altes Hackerhaus. It has a beer line-up nothing out of the ordinary in Munich. It is in a nice location with a nice beer garden outside. I felt it was a little expensive. There are better choices in Munich.

I had already had lunch at another spot, so I just stopped in here for a beer after walking around the market across the street. The atmosphere is pretty cool, a lot of people sitting on the patio having beers and food and talking. I did not see any open seats or tables, so I went inside and asked for a beer. It was a little awkward, because I was in the way of all the servers grabbing beers for people sitting down. Note to self, find a seat first then order from the waiter or waitress. Anyway, ordered a Helles Lager, 0.5 L for 5,50 Euro and then walked outside and found an empty stool in the shade. I was visiting the city solo on business, but I'd like to go back here with friends sometime. The beer was pretty good and the food coming out looked tasty.

Andechser made me hungry, but I didn't want to eat in the cold. Ok, next place. Augustiner looks packed, so scratch that, let's go south. Paulaner am Tal is packed too, damn. Keep walking...oooh, Hacker Pschorr! And there's a free table!
The ceiling may be high in some parts of the restaurant, but it does have two levels, and sitting underneath the second level with bright, light colored wood made me feel cozy, though I suspect the heat inside from the outside cold helped the case too. A few of the tables with bench seats even had pillows resting! The only thing that was missing was a blanket.
5 different Hacker beers on-tap, suh as the Steernweiss, Helles, Dunkel, and classic weiss. A handful of bottles can be bought too, though they're light and low alcohol beers. I couldn't decide, so Hacker Pschorr Weiss was the choice for the night, and a very good one. Pours for half-liters run at €4.70, so it's a little more expensive that at other Munich establishments.
I remembered that I came here to eat, and I didn't forget that. How about a crispy pork knuckle with a potato dumpling and sauerkraut? That will do, thank you, and delicous is what it was.
There is another Hacher Pschoor drinking establishment nearby called the Hackerhaus, which offers more beer. However, for a bite and a drink, you can't go wrong at Der Pschorr.

This is a decent-sized hall with a biergarten right in the Viktualienmarkt .
Inside there are a lot of tables in a wide-variety of shapes and sizes. Me and my friend sat at a small one near the entrance. The place was packed on Christi Himmelfahrt day.
The beer here is expensive, no other way to put it. But they do have several varieties and the Edelhell that is on tap is really good. The waiter was tip-top. He was prompt when we called for him and he brought our food out in a matter of seconds it seemed.
I had Leberknoedel soup and it was 4,50 i think, maybe a bit over priced but it was tasty.
Overall it is a decent place, expensive, but with a better vibe than most.

After drinks at Weisses Brauhaus and dinner at Hofbrauhaus, we made Der Pschorr stop number three of the night. Walking in, the place has a much more modern look to it than other places in Munich. A nice change of pace. My wife ordered a hefe, and the waiter asked if I'd like a keg beer. Of course I would. Definitely get a seat near the bar and enjoy the show. They had a huge barrel sitting right on top of the bar and a guy with a mustache and a hammer pounded in the tap and got it going. A fun sight to watch. We didn't stay here for more than one beer, but it was a cool place to check out.

I have had the opportunity to visit Der Pschorr a few times and have found it wonderful each time. During nice weather, they have an outside seating area that is adjacent to the Viktualienmarkt and the Schranenhalle and oozes with Munchen atmosphere. The food is high quality Bavarian specialities served well. The service is top notch as well, the waiter made me feel at home and even gave me a souvenier glass! But with this place, it is the beer, which I think is the best there is.
Overall, this is one of my favorite places in Munich. If you are in Munich, or close by, this place deserves a visit.

Visited this place, adjacent to the Viktualienmarkt in December 2007 about lunchtime or a little later. It is a fine place that seems to have been fairly recently renovated to a high standard. Unlike other nearby bierhallen, this place has modern decor but is still in keeping with the bierhall theme. It was full, but we were shown to a a table without much delay. We did not eat there, but tried a few of their brews; Hacker-Pschorr Helles and Hacker-Pschorr Dunkels. I also had a taste of their dark weisse. All these beers were decent, without being brilliant. The toilets are located in the basement. All in all, a very nice place for a brew to escape from the shops.
