Excellent place in the downtown area! the blind tiger ale was- no pun intended- a blind choice we made once we saw how upscale the Gramercy tavern turned out to be.

and landing this great laid-back place in the middle of manhattan is certainly lucky. filled with folks not only american but very diverse, small and manageable and you still get a table and are greeted with a smile from the 'tender.

Sure no one's waiting your table but it's nice to go up to the bar and just have a look around. and the feel around with the chalk-board tap selection gives it an informal feel. the bartender was a pretty nice bloke with swift service and definetly earned his tip- we talked about beer by the end of the night (i was tipsy).

the selection, oh the selection! only on taps we're talking what, 15-20 crafts? but absolute brilliant crafts. these guys don't waste their time on rubbish beers. bottles aren't too many but a good amount nonetheless. and quality, seriously.

We tried the BLT sandwich and the hummus. nice hearty sandwich and tasty but unusual hummus.

overall, this place is brilliant, definetly a place to hit in manhattan.

Very rustic cozy vibe in this place. Cool fireplace. They've got tables & food.

No real comment on the staff as she was too busy dealing with the old guys hitting on her constantly, but the one guy I talked to for a second was more than helpful and friendly.

Great selection, I had to pace myself to get around to everything. Going back soon.

I have been wanting to go to this place for a while. Overall, I'm not disappointed and I will definitely go back someday. First off, it has a great selection of brews on tap (28 I think) as well as an extensive bottle selection. At first I was unimpressed by the decor as it looked like a dive bar upon first glance. However, it grows into you and you soon realize that it is a cozy and warm place with nice wood tables and a fireplace. The crowd was young but seemingly mature and the music was not loud at all; we could hear our conversation. My only complaint about this place is the service. If you sit at a table you have to order at the bar because there are no waiters. I do not have an issue with this, however, there are no printed menus. Instead, the beer selection is written on a chalkboard behind the bar. Since it was so dark and the writing was so small I could not see from the table. I had to walk up to the crowded bar and peer over people's shoulders to study the menu. Not so comfortable.
Other than that, this place is outstanding.

Good selection, but place is usually overcrowded. Short of giving away free beer, there is not much that would make me fight through the 3-deep crowds at the bar in hopes of catching a bartenders eye. Unless you are a twenty-something lemming who actually enjoys the jam of humanity, one can do better elsewhere for ambience and service.
