After I attended the NY Auto Show at the Javits Center today, I decided to visit the fabled Blind Tiger on West Bleeker Street, near 7th Avenue. I walked into a very cheerful atmosphere on Good Friday and I saw a place with the flavors of many great bars rolled into one place.
The colorful array of taps lined up on the Z-shaped bar read like a Who's Who in the craft/imported beer world with their best on display. As I looked around at the chalk board menus hanging in the dark wood paneled walls, I was thinking my friends would just love the place and that our future visits would have try the food there too.
Yes, I was a newbie in the pretty bartender's scene as she was looking at me and waiting for my order. I took a pint of the refreshing Allagash White, while standing in the somewhat crowded bar. I was thinking that The Blind Tiger probably rocked hard on the weekends and was a little more congenial for a quiet pint or three during the week.
As my stay was brief, I didn't really experience a long session at the Blind Tiger to get to know its dynamics and characters, but I am certain I will return in good company for more of its great selection and service.
