Good selection, but place is usually overcrowded. Short of giving away free beer, there is not much that would make me fight through the 3-deep crowds at the bar in hopes of catching a bartenders eye. Unless you are a twenty-something lemming who actually enjoys the jam of humanity, one can do better elsewhere for ambience and service.

Update: Went back again on a Wed. night. Crowd was thick, but not so thick I couldn't get to the bar. The bar staff (or lack thereof) is really not interested in serving. They might as well have blinders on. I used to bar tend and was totally aware when people approach the bar, I would look at them and let them now I would get to them momentarily. These people were picking their nose (figuratively). If I managed this place I'd have 3 people back there knocking it out. The demand is there...so why not supply? I brought a group with me this time and we had to split two tables because one small group of women wouldn't trade with us and let us sit together. I cannot say I have met so many rude females in one place, they literally felt like we were robbing them or something. They were so perplexed as to why we would even ask if they could take our table so we could sit closer to the rest of our party. In Texas, the girls would kiss you for asking then hold your hand there (God Bless Texas). Due to the lack of service and the snotty hookers working the table alone, I have lowered the Vibe and Service.

Packed house, miserable in getting a beer. I didn't see one waiter/waitress while I was there and I would pay good money to be taken care of in a place like this. Beer selection is top notch. I took advantage of the cask beer they had that night. Damn good. Mixed crowd of college age and blue hairs, so you don't feel out of place if you are older. Music was loud and people louder. I noticed how rude some of the people were as they wouldn't let move out of the way to let you to the restroom. They just sat there until you said "Excuse me" louder than the first time. Maybe they were just having a bad day. Where I am from you push people out of the way who don't move when you ask nicely, but I was literally going to wet my wants, so I went into overly nice mode. all in all it was a good experience, solely based on the beer selection.

This cozy little place on Bleecker Sreet is among my three favorite beer destinations in all of NYC. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff add to the appeal of this fine little pub. Luke the manager is a great guy and always willing to talk about beer and other topics as well. He has always remembered us which I really appreciate. Jillian is a very nice member of the staff who treated us exceptionally well on our most recent visit. Excellent selection of beers which includes cask offerings and sometimes gravity. Tasty food makes this a place where before you know it multiple hours have melted away in very enjoyable fashion. Not to be missed.

This place is outstanding. We stopped by around noon on Friday and it was not too crowded but all the tables were taken when we left. I suggest getting there early or after the lunch rush. Still the staff were knowledgeable and very accommodating as we had a few samples of unfamilier beers. There were about 25 drafts and 2 casks with a wide range of beers. I had the Flying Dog Double Dog IPA cask and my wife had the Smutty Nose Big A. Both were superb. The patrons were friendly and we felt welcomed. The place is cosy, not very large with alot of wood and a good feel to it. I believe all the chairs were stools without backs but we were very comfortable and certainly enjoyed our visit to this great place. This is a must stop if nearby, although we walked many blocks and are glad we did.

Great place with a great selection, but the cramped quarters and thick crowds in a packed house make it a challenge to get served at times. On off nights or afternoons when you can get bar space it is one of the best beer bars in NYC.
