Stopped in on the way down Highway 45. Located in a strip mall with condos on the 2nd floor oddly enough, next door to a nice cafe, Something's Brewing.

The storefront was wider than it was deep, largely stocked with wine, but with clearly visible beer coolers along the right hand wall. Also there were open cases haphazardly all over the floor, with price signs clearly marked. I noticed Alpha Klaus and an obscure Japanese Weizen among them. Prices were fair and there was a good variety, maybe 125-150 beers. Highlights were Jolly Pumpkin, Half Acre, Bruery Rueuze/Sour in the Rye, Bells, Central Waters, Stone. Overall a good selection with a few limited run seasonals like HA Lager Town and FFF Alpha Klaus. Not as broad or obscure as larger stores, but a quality selection.

Service was good, the owner greeted us, and later asked if we needed any help, and chatted with us at the register.

Overall one of the better shops in the area, which doesn't seem to have much else around.

Been going to Wine Knows pretty much since it opened. Beer selection is not enormous but it always a high quality selection. If you sign up for the e-mail list you get advanced notice of beer and wine tastings and some release info. Even their wine tasting days will have a table of beers with a local expert doing the pouring. Around Super Bowl Sunday they have a beer tasting day with a few wines.

Selections can go fast. I got there shortly after the Oktoberfests hit, less than a week later they were ALL gone. All in all a great small place to go to especially in the dead zone between Mundelein and Kenosha.

This is located in a mini-mall across from the College. TO get to it you have to go through the entrance of a neighborhood which is odd.

Inside is is clean, but all of the beer is on the floor right in the light, they need some shelves. There is also beer in the coolers. The selection is decent, I found a few rarer brews and a few special ones that had sold out elsewhere.

Watch the date codes on the beer. This is obviously a wine-forward store that has a decent beer supply. But they need to treat the beer with a little more respect.

The only reason why I gave service a 4.0 instead of a 5 is because it truly depends on who is working. I have never had a bad recommendation from Phil. However if he is not there the words ''I don't know'' seem to be a broken record when asking beer questions. I love DiCarlo's but the great part about Wine Knows is they care about the consumer and will take time to get to know your tastes and give you suggestions to expand horizons. Plus they carry a finer selection instead of such a broad one. There is not one beer in there that can be considered ''wasting shelf space''. By far the friendliest and warmest craft beer/fine wine store around. Highly suggest it!

I love Wine Knows. Here's what made me a customer for life:

Last December I stopped in while waiting for Thai food being prepared next door (Lovely Thai, a very good restaurant). As I browsed the ever-changing selection in the beer coolers I noticed FFF Alpha Kong for $8.99. Being perpetually low on funds, and dying to try this brew, I asked the owner Phil if this was a mistake since I was seeing it everywhere for $15.99. He explained that he got a case of it on accident for the same cost as the Alpha Klaus, distributor's mistake, and that since he tries to be fair he wasn't going to charge more.

You gotta love that. Yes, it is primarily a wine store, but his taste in beer is phenomonal. He hangs out for beers at another nearby oasis of good brew, Firkin, and it shows - just like them, he is constantly getting new/limited beers that turn over quickly. And usually for a dollar less than Binny's.

For a small store he has a diverse selection: FFF, 2 Bros, Flossmoor, Unibroue, belgians a'plenty, New Holland, Lagunitas, Great Lakes, etc. He has a few beer tastings every year and actually just started having Beer Seminars as well, which I plan on attending at some point.

Phil truly cares about his customers and it shows. Highly Recommended.

Heard about the place through another BA and went ahead and stopped in. This is definately a wine store but special attention has been paid to the beer and while a smaller selection is available everything is quality from a wide range of brewers. Good selection of Three Floyds and Unibroue and quite a few belgians too. They host a few beer tasting a year and the owner seems to know a thing or too as witnessed by his helping a lady pick out some holiday beers and turning her on to BLBC Christmas.. I will definately stop back by.
