Notes/Commercial Description:
Moa St Josephs is brewed in the traditional style of a classic Belgian Tripel. Strong spice and clove characters create complex flavours and aromas which are heightened by its extended bottle conditioning, with a combination of malt and candy sugars complimenting the high alcohol content produced by the Belgian ale yeast. Best served at 8°C in a goblet after gently rolling the bottle to distribute the sediment signature.

330ml corked bottle, poured into a tulip glass..

A - golden, pours a slightly fizzy white head that lingers. Looks like a typical tripel.

S - aroma based around honey and fruit (like a toffee apple). I'm also picking up some yeast and spice (coriander) odours.

T - Sweet malts with yeasty presence, and a hint of clove. There is a more than a hint of white grapes that come to the fore halfway through, and the taste is a bit like sweet white wine. The tart finish adds to this impression. An alcohol warmness making its presence known a few seconds after the liquid has gone down. While sweet, the candi sugar sweetness isn't as apparent as in other tripels.

M - Medium bodied, carbonation is spot on with other Tripels. Slightly fizzy texture.

O - i'm impressed - its easily the best tripel I've had thats made from a brewery outside of Belgium. Having said that, the tartiness , while welcome in winter, may not be to everyone's liking. Try it out .
