Bottle shared into two snifters. HUGE head. no date.
Sweet hop smell, very English in nature.
Has a nice sweet mouth feel that then dries out leaving a resinous pine feel.
Very well balanced. Good sweetness with hop tones that grow on you and come out amazingly. Very nice and refreshing and each sip the flavor comes out more and more. Would buy again. Probably tomorrow when I drive to SC to my spot down there.

Drank from my Duvel tulip

A- Pours a coppery, amber colour with one finger frothy white head that retains fairly well

S- Slightly spicy, biscuit, some floral notes with a hint of lemon, grapefruit but rather metallic. Nothing pronounced and rather disappointing

T - Rather bready, biscuity, slight caramel malts with a bitter , spicy , tangy finish with some tangerine, grapefruit and bitter lemon.

M - Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation

O - Nothing fantastic but a fairly well balanced refreshing beer, a little too tangy and bitter at the finish for me but ok.

With a pep of tangy citrus and a firm armature of biscuit malt, the hoppy taste that make British ale popular gets an indigenous face-lift from the award winning brewers from MOA.

Five Hop is a darker rusty-amber hue that segways seamlessly to its toasted sweetness and piney aroma. Its soft biscuit malt starchiness gives the initial taste a creamy dryness to elevate a citrusy grapefruit, lemon and orange tone.

Across the middle, the ale simply blooms as its confident carbonation gives life to its brilliant white grapefruit, juniper, orange, lemon and grape character from those distinctive New Zealand hops. As the malts recede into a dry and toasty palate, its steely caramel taste is effortless on the palate but keeps the hops firmly supported.

Toasty-dry in finish, the hops continue to pull forth with elements of grass, white wine, peppery oak and its own wood-derived caramel and faint vanillans. With a tea-like presence in aftertaste, the taste concludes with hints of verbena and grain tannin.

MOA's Five Hop ale is a welcome addition to the American dinner table as it perfectly complements an array of domestic dishes from pizzas to burgers and everywhere between. One thing's for sure, moa beer is better than less beer!

12.7 oz bottle in a stemmed tulip glass.

A- Copper-orange color, 2f off-white head. Sudsy and lasting head leaves nice lacing down the glass. Hazy appearance with active small-bubble carbonation.

S- Dry bread , mild EIPA hops, caramel malts.

T- Bready malts, fruity hops. Has the flavor of the style but carries a slight mineral/metallic flavor.

M- Smooth, tangy. Dry lingering malt finish. I'm looking for slightly more hop kick.

O- Nice malt profile drives the brew, the hops may be a bit too subtle. The bottle was well within its freshness date, maybe the green bottle color had an effect. Quite good, still.

Impressive foamy head...takes up about half of the 24 ounce glass--only a third of the bottle used on the initial pour. Settles in a lumpy fashion, leaving some chunky lace. The color is deep amber with a bit of haze.

Fresh floral hop smell. There's a good, mildly sweet crystal malt aroma as well. Very pleasant and well-balanced.

The flavor is less impressive than the look and smell. There's a strong yeast bite on the initial taste. This dominates the rather dry malt flavors. The hop bitterness is raw and uncomplicated. The body is as one would expect.

Poured from a 12.7oz cork and cage bottle into a pint glass in high elevation Kalispell, Mont. Reviewed live.

A- Finger and a half offwhite head with large bubbles. Boils down to a thin white head atop a hazy orange-red body with nice carbonation. Can't complain about how this looks.

S- Nelson hops? Floral yet earthy. Slightly funky hops and medium malts. Curious they would call this a winter ale.

T- Spicy hops and earthy yeasts. Tingles the tongue with spiciness. Finishes earthy and bitter.

M- Lighter, slightly creamy and clean finish. Nice feel.

O- Nice beer. I hope I can have more New Zealand beers in the future.

From my beer journal dated 4/17/12

Appearance: 12.7oz heavy green glass bottle poured into a standard pint. Colour is a hazy brown with a lightly caramel-tinged head that is enormous. The pillowy head fades slowly leaving a bubbly rim.

Smell: Clean, clear, and crisp malts with some bitter, citrus hops. Very nicely balanced.

Taste: Sweet, bready malts at first followed by a nice bitter bite of citric hops. Finishes with a touch of a roasted malt character.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, creamy - which is both surprising and quite enjoyable - and mildly carbonated.

Overall: Amazingly balanced, great flavours, and great aromas. I love the creamy mouthfeel, it is certainly a unique twist to this style and it's fantastic. A world-class beer!
