32oz growler from Wine and Beyond Emerald Hills.

This beer pours a hazy, mildly glassy medium copper amber hue, with two hefty fingers of filmy, loosely foamy, and yet somewhat creamy off-white head, which leaves a decent array of ghoulish cobwebbed lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of bready, yeasty caramel malt, a touch of dry toffee, citrus cream, muted pine resin, and further musty floral and boozy perfumed hops. The taste is sharp caramel malt, soused white raisins, piny flower petals, airy creamed toffee, and warmed orange juice, with a bristling metallic booziness.

The carbonation is fairly laid-back, but that's not to say inert - it does well to provide the support this beer needs, the body a decent medium weight, mostly smooth, and even a tad creamy. It finishes on the sweet side, as the citrus fruit from the hops sheds the bulk of its bitterness, the malt keeps on keepin' on, and the alcohol shores things up likewise.

A drinkable DIPA, if one with a certain lack of acerbic hoppy goodness - the citrus, pine, and floral notes all seem sedated for the most part. At least the standard ABV does well to keep in the shadows, not entirely showing its hand. Perhaps more of an English-inspired version of the style, if that actually exists, as I'm getting more of a nascent barleywine nudge as this one warms.

Best pop of any corked IPA ever! Shot across the room with vigor!

Color- cloudy medium brass. Full head.

Aroma- nutty barnyard and lemon rind.

Taste- A complex IPA, starts lightly effervescent with strong floral (almost acetone) notes hopy throughout with tropical (perhaps topaz hop) in the middle, finishing with a pleasant earthiness. This brew almost got it right. The earthiness probably came from the bottle conditioning, but the hops were far too floral and were extremely juxtaposed with the earthy, horse blanket background.

ABV 7.9%
