500ml bottle poured into tulip 14/1/13
A clear golden copper with lots of tiny bubbles throughout, two fingers of off white foam that stick around for a while ending up as an island with a couple thick tings of lace
S nice tropical notes, passion-fruit, lemon, guava, pineapple, and a slight floral aspect with a hint of sweetness, I'm loving the nose on this one
T some faint pine and some lime on top of what I smell, a little rind opposed to the fruity flesh on the nose but it still works very well, faint caramel but it's mostly tropical hops
M light bodied for the style but the tiny bubbles work well, a nice mellow bite and a lingering rind pine finish
O it smells amazing and I have very little to complain about elsewhere, My glass was empty by the time I typed these words and I could easily take down another bottle or two
I've had great luck with Kiwi IPA's and I hope that trend continues, pretty stoked to see this brewery on the shelves here in Alberta, I'll be drinking this again

bottled in may, so freshness was undoubtedly an issue here. light copper to honey colored ipa, frothy white head, and mostly clear. the nose is mostly bitterness in this one, with some resinous hops and a thicker malt body. the flavor must have faded a lot, because i get just a bit of hops, but more just stale grain and bitterness. the whole thing really doesn't have much flavor at all until the finish, which is pine and bitterness all the way, with a very full body. my problem with this, and a lot of beer from new zealand, is that by the time it gets here, its fading, and given that new zealand grows some amazing hops, its a let down in these hop forward brews that we never get them in their prime. this one falls into that category, and is probably so much better at the source. still, not a bad brew and worthy of a try.

On tap at Lumsden Freehouse in Auckland.
Clear medium-light amber body with medium carbonation and a very durable off-white head.
Aroma: hop forward, mostly floral with some herbal
Flavor: hop forward: herbal with a hint of weed. Mildly bitter aftertaste with some lingering herbal and floral notes.
Feel: near medium body; medium-light carbonation. .
O: OK but not worth seeking out.
