Pours a bold dark gold/copper with a one-finger head that leaves some lacing in my glass. Prefer them paler but it looks good regardless.
A good touch of citrus in the nose with mango, some grapefruit and a decent whiff of malt in the nose.
Citrus carries over to the flavors with a muted mango presence. Lightly buttered malt too. Very mellow and warming.
Mouthfeel is very warming and full of lingering hoppiness and buttered malt.
Decent IPA but otherwise, not as robust as I'd hoped.

This first introduction to Waimea hops showcases them as a wonderful dry hopping hop addition to the Citra and cascade contingent.
Aroma: Aroma was filled with citrus and herbs and distinct pineapple.
Appearance: The appearance was a clear dark golden which was closer to a copper with a minimal head and low carbonation.
Overall: The brew lacked a hop backbone and made it one note with a long bitter light aftertaste. Good showcase beer for the hop but not for an IPA.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a copper color and a clear texture. There was a half inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Fair lacing.
S: A nice aroma of hops, malt, and a sweet component.
T: Tasted of an above average amount of hops, light malt, and some notes of pine in the finish. A pretty good flavor that's extremely focused and easy to drink.
M: A well-carbonated beer with a somewhat slick finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is a solid beer. It's well made, drinkable and easy to like.

Served from a 500ml bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne.
Pours a very clear, but quite bright burnished golden colour, with a solid enough head of faintly off-white foam. This settles pretty quickly to a musty ring and some larger pocked bubbles across the surface. Some patchy streaks on the inside of the glass. Carbonation is fine. Looks pretty nice.
Nose has a clear, but slightly dusty or earthy hop fragrance, some pine comes through along with a vegetative sharpness like carambola. Slight peppery overtones are noticeable, as is a little bit of wood shavings. It's not as fruity as some NZ hop varieties can make a beer, but it's clean and pleasant enough.
Taste is smooth and light for the most part, with a very clean malt profile that doesn't really do much more than provide a basis for the hops. The hop flavours are there, but are again a little less interesting than they might have been. Light dull fruitiness on the front, with a tingle of slightly resiny bitterness through the centre towards the back, with an uptilt in sweetness on the finish. Just enough lingering to clean up in the end. It's nice enough.
It's clearly a well-made beer. It's crisp, light, consistent with nothing to fault. However, it probably doesn't really jump beyond this to become something bigger and more exciting, and I don't believe the new hop variety really has anything unique enough to get excited about its future either.

I would prefer to class this as a NZ ipa but no category for it unfortunately anyway it pours a clear light golden amber hue which leaves a three finger bubble laden head that stays and lacing everywhere.
The smell is beautiful its pineapple, boiled candy, gooseberries, lollies, toffee and herbal tea.
The taste is mangoes, pineapple, candy, toffee, berries and finished with a herbal hop caramel bittersweetness.
Mouthfeel is just under medium bodied with light carbonation.
Overall it looks and smells the part but abit let down with taste and mouthfeel, still above average.
