American IPA |  6.50% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Hop aroma and flavor dominate this IPA. However, the malt character of this deep amber colored ale nicely balances the hop component thus avoiding a harsh bitterness. Pure hoppiness!

Big thanks to Chris via Alex for this South Dakota state tick. 12oz can that is very cool, drank from my Darkness glass...Pours a very dark copper, that is also very clear, interesting trick. A light tan head, very small bubbles of head but create a thick and lasting top...The aroma is wet hops, smells like a wet pale, not like a bitter ipa. lots of caramel comes through, pretty sweet overall, not a bad start so far...The taste destroys a pretty promising start. The taste and feel are way to light and distracting. There is boring hops and alcohol, a scratchy bitter finish doesn't help matters.

A rare tick but not something to try outside of ticking.

Poured from the 12oz. can into a Crow Peak "can" pint glass.

Pours a lovely, clear light copper with one finger of head that leaves some spotty lacing.

The aroma I get is mostly pine with some bread, grass and a little citrus underneath.

The taste is big, piney hops right up front with a little spiciness as well then a bit of juicy sweet followed by a lingering grassy bitterness that stays on the tongue.

The mouthfeel is thin to medium.

Overall, I think this is a very good IPA, especially if you lean to the pine, resinous flavors. Get it fresh and you've got a very good beer.

Can provided by LiverBelly - thanks. Named after the 11th Hour Gulch in Spearfish Canyon where the walls are so narrow and high that it receives only 1 hour of sunlight each day. Hope to visit one day.

A: Pours a clear goldenish copper with a thin (1/4-inch) slightly off-white head which fades quickly to the rim leaving some spotty lace.

N: Pine forest and grainy malts with some mild floral and herbal notes.

T: Mainly follows the nose with piney hops, crackers, and malts

M: Moderate body and light carbonation. Slightly resiny with a dry and bitter grassy finish.

O: Refreshing, but don't expect a hop monster. Could not figure out the canning date above the bar code (2 10 27 A 2 B A). Would like to try this really fresh.
