Selection: This Old Chicago offers 24 beers on draft and 83 in bottles. Not bad for Kearney NE. They also have a decent selection of local brews, several from Thunderhead brewing, at least on from Platte Valley and a hand full from Empyrean.

Quality: I had two draft beers, a honey wheat from Platte Valley and Third Stone Brown from Empyrean. They both possessed an oxidized taste, maybe old? This only means that people need to stop in and help them suck down some beer.

Staff Knowledge and Service: Great, My server Marissa was a real sweet gal. She really went above and beyond to serve me. She even brought me free samples of beer. Anything she didn’t know she quickly found out.

Ambiance: Typical OC’s fairly noisy on the bar side. Also some mild cigarette smoke in the air. Several TV’s and a pub gaming system.

Management Issues: The only issue I had with the management was my curiosity about weather or not they where part of the BA/AHA pub discount program. The manager told me they where not but was extremely interested in becoming part of the program. He took down the beertown.org info and said he will inquire about it.

Food: I had the chicken fettuccini alfredo. It was delicious, the only complaint I had was that the portion sized was kind of small but then again I’m 6’ 8” and everything is small to me!

All and all this was a great place to stop right off of I-80. Plenty of hotel’s within walking distance. Next time I may stick to bottled beer but lord knows they have plenty of them!
