"Brewed exclusively for Sainsbury's" Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
500 ml bottle. Pours red/brown (on the light side - but not too light). Nice white heads mounts readily and falls quickly enough. Good and clear.
Smells fresh - a field of hops? (This includes a bit of earthiness, eh?)
Mild taste - sure you get some bitterness and some maltiness but very little of the former. The bottle says it has, "a vigorous swoop of malt and oats." If they say so, why not?
Mild and even aftertaste - just the same (mild) maltiness diminishing.
It is a bit thin and bubbly in the mouth. It would be terrible in head-to-head competition with anything with a smooth mouth or any real flavor.
As it is, it's fine for a nice hot summer day - very light with just a touch of malt. The (over) carbonation clears the palate just fine! (830 characters)
