English beers for me have a tendency to be too earthy and I end up avoiding their hoppy offerings because of this. This beer takes on more characteristics of their AMAZING barely wines. What I mean is that this beer has the wonderful fruity notes mixed into a very complex malt profile.

This one pours damn near clear brown (and i mean brown) with a nice dark creme/mocha head. At first I thought there wouldn't be much lacing, but I stand pleasantly corrected! There is almost a sheet of lace with the beer only partially consumed.

Light fruity esters built on toffee and caramel malts not really much else here to speak of.

This one is really tasty. The showcase imo is the fruity yeast profile. This is built on toffee and caramel malts and then moves to a slight spicy finish (hops perhaps?). There is a bit of grain in the finish that seems to give this one more bitterness without distracting from the sweetness, it is enhancing it.

I hate to use the word perfect, but this one is perfectly carbonated. There is enough to keep the beer lively, but not so much that you're burping and being offended by it.

OK I gotta say this. The beer is nearly 5 bucks and frankly I can't justify doing this beer again at anything close to that. 16.6 oz so yeah I'm used to the premium that somehow gets placed on singles, but it is absurd! This beer is about the same price of Bastard, which btw if you over hopped this I might compare it to. I hear this is a brown ale and I'm missing the nutty flavors I expect in that style. Regardless of style I really enjoy this one. (half point deduction for price)

This beer is 3 years old, so...

Pours a hazy copper brown with a modest cream head.

Aroma is reminiscent of cherry cough drops, with a bit of floral character.

Flavor follows suit, with more menthol and dull cherry flavor overtaking the toasted malt, into the fairly bitter, earthy, herbal, and medicinal finish.

Body is a little watery, with moderate carbonation and light alcohol warmth.

I thought age was responsible for the of flavors, but other reviews indicate otherwise. This is going to be a little difficult to enjoy.

Clear red colored ale with a medium sized tan colored head.

Smells of butter and leather with some toffee thrown in it. Bitter oranges and some tobacco leaf with some sweetness.

Starts out sweet and malty with some English hop. Moderately hoppy and lightly bitter, tastes mostly of leather and tobacco. Alcohol warms the chest. Toffee candy make an appearance.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall a very tasty beer.

A: 2 finger cream colored head that settles into a ring which leaves no lacing. Dark amber or mahogany clear body.

S: Very clean. Malty grain, toffee, some alcohol. Maybe a little nutty.

T: Very clean again. Makes me wish this wasn't filtered. Some dark fruit, particularly plum and raisin. Little nutty. Some astringency.

M: Some prickly carbonation, slightly coating with a medium mouthfeel.

O: Its good and on the right path. I wish there was a little more alcohol and it was unfiltered which, in my opinion would have made it a little more interesting.
