Hand-pulled pint in the excellent 'Loggerheads' in Shrewsbury on 24 May 2013.

Light golden body, almost lager like in fact: good solid white head on top.

Earthy, hoppy, with a dry finish. No great aroma, some citrusy hops but little of anything really.

The taste was mildly citrus hops with an undertone of wheat and malts which gave the brew a semi-sweet feel before the hops came strong again to give a fairly dry and bitter finish.

OK more than great: pleasant more than outstanding.

On-tap at Deckard's American Tavern in Atlanta. Listed on the menu as "Autumn Ale" but of the four Autumn ale's listed it seems as though this is the most fitting considering the 4.2% ABV listed.

Pours a clear copper color with a 1.5-finger white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving thick lacing.

Smells of pale malts with good amounts of earthy and floral hops and milder amounts of medium fruits - pears with hints of green apples.

Tastes very similar to how it smells. Mildly sweet pale malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by medium fruit flavors from the yeast. Midway through the sip the fruit flavors are pushed out a bit with the addition of earthy and slightly leafy hops. The hops and malt flavors carry through to a mildly bitter ending.

Mouhtfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall I was expecting more of a buttery diacetyl English Pale but instead I really enjoyed a more flavorful beer with light amounts of fruit notes. An easy-drinking beer that's well worth a shot.

Ingredients: Cara malt; Wheat; Fuggles and Goldings hops. Strong fruitiness to the aroma with some herbal, floral and earthy hop tones. Clear amber-gold body is topped by decent off-white head that recedes to cover. Caramel malt sweetness is joined by floral hops with moderate finishing bitterness. Medium-light body with decent carbonation. Enjoyable if unexciting.
