Consumed 05/25/08.

Looks like the Hollister brewmaster is making some of his old Santa Barbara Brewing Company recipes here as well.

Clear light golden hue. A white, one finger, super-fine nitro head sits atop the beer.

Aroma is Simco and Cascade hops.

Creamy texture. Served surprisingly warm (as in appropriate). This is a fairly sweet beer. Pronounced piney hops. Not especially bitter or parching, it goes down smooth and clean (due in no small part to the nitro, I'm sure).

Very smooth and drinkable. I could easily put a pint down without thinking about it.

On nitro (for some reason) at Hollister Brewing

Pours a slightly cloudy golden straw color with a dense white head. Still moderately hoppy, despite the typical dumbing down effect of nitrogen. There is a good bit of citrus peel and a light herbal hop note, too, maybe some pine. Lightly sweet with aromas of bread. The flavor has a bit more sweet malt/bread flavor than expected from the nose. But, it does have nice citrus peel (mostly orange) characteristics to it.

Enjoyed on 08-16-2008. Nitro-tap at Hollister Brewing Co. in Goleta, CA.

A: OK, so I'm a sucker for a light-medium Pale with nitro... Orange body with a thick, creamy white head.

S: Citrus, grassy. Some pine. Nice.

T: On the dry side. Hops are present. The citrus & herbals come through.

M: Smooth & a little flat (thanks to the nitro I'm sure).

D: Quite easily drinkable. Depending on the weather, I could certainly session this one.

I understand this is a carry-over from the Brewmaster's time at SB Brewing Co. Understandable, because I saw this pulled several times while I was there. A popular choice at the brewpub.

Nitro tap at the brewpub. Orange body with a thick creamy nitro head that leaves rings of lace down the glass. The aroma is super dry and hoppy. Big citrus and resin come through. The flavor is likewise dry and hoppy. Suggests and IPA with a really dry and lighter malt flavor. Really dry on the whole, and quite drinkable. The mouthfeel is a little flat due to the nitro. I think that it would be a little better with regular gas, but this differentiates it from their other pales, I guess. If you are in the mood for a clean, dry, and hoppy ale, this is what you want to go for.
