Notes from visit – 12/27/11
*served in Nonic glass

India Brown Ale – 7.0%
*Brewed exclusively with English malts and a blend of Centennial and Simcoe hops.

A: Pours a very clear and light hazelnut color that thins out around the edges. Fitted with a tight white cap. Nice sticky speckles of lace all about the glass.

S: Smells of lightly toasted nutty grains with some citrus, pine, and spice notes.

T: Opens with a slight nutty toasted toffee like malt base. Follows with a decent hoppy citrus and pine bitterness. Very light and a bit refreshing. Pretty sessionable.

M: Thin and light body that is almost watery around the edges. Right carbonation makes for a somewhat creamy mouthfeel with a nice dry puckering finish.

D: I really like the concept of a hoppy brown ale and this one is not a bad attempt but I just wanted more. More rich malt body, more toasty flavs, and of course more hops…thinking more dry hoppage here. It is a much more delicate approach and I found it very thin and light. Still pretty tasty though.
