Chocolate and coffee, over ripe fruit, light caramel, malty spice. Pours dense slightly hazy mid-brown under a ¾” finely bubbled, persistent and lacy foam cap. Starts sweet with dark sugars and then coffee that transforms into a dark chocolate bitterness with hints of roast and hops before drying slightly on the finish with lingering bitterness suggesting coffee grounds and a touch of astringency. There is some dried fruit in the background. It has a medium full body and medium to medium high carbonation. (513 characters)

Tawny reddish brown, foam has the same color as Manila folders. Delicate halo of lacing and lasting coverage on the surface. Color changes to a sunset orange in the meniscus of the glass.

Aroma of floral earthy hops that seem a little past their prime. Earthy maltiness behind that. Taste is malty, vaguely toasty, somewhat bitter in the aftertaste. Medium bodied. A lingering peppery spice hints at the sausage theme I guess, but it's a stretch.

Paired with smoked Polish sausage, decent enough but nothing special really. (526 characters)

Showing their juvenile delinquent side, the Against the Grain brewers have rubbed off on the Danes as the hearty brown ale doesn't only adopt such adolescent marketing but also a bigger-than-recommended strength and irresponsible hop additions... but in the best way possible.

Hazy and ruddy, the rusty-brown body casts a tightly woven skirt of foam that caps the rim and holds steady through the session. Its robust aromas fill the nose with chocolate, nutty, toasty and coffee-like scents. Propped up with the beautifully burnt sweetness of toffee and caramel, the early taste is savory, meaty and luxurious.

With its retreating sweetness, the middle palate showcases complex caramelized malt- scorched chocolate in one sip and burnt marshmallow the next. Candied pecan, almond and roasted walnut give an earthy grip to the beer until the hops arrive.

Its bittersweet finish boasts the taste of coffee grounds, seared pinecone, brushfire, burnt citrus peel and a tinge of bourbon warmth in closure. With a slight tinny bite, the taste lingers onward with toffee-wrapped pine resins. (1,087 characters)

This a collaboration with Against The Grain and pours the murkiest dark brown hue with an everlasting two finger fluffy head and lacing everywhere, the smell is dark roasty malts, piney resinous hops and a constant underlying herbalness, the mouthfeel is medium bodied and well carbonated which suits perfectly and has tastes of roasty biscuity malts firstly followed by an earthy herbalness and finished with a piney resinous hop bitterness and definately a must try especially if you like your American Brown Ales cheers. (520 characters)
