Pours a bronzed red colour with fluffy beige head and pretty furious bead of small bubbles. Lace is patchy, looks good.

Smell is fairly nutty and malty. Hints of marzipan with pecan caramel and a whisper of some vanilla and maybe paprika providing mild spice. Sweet above all else, not unpleasant but not sure stylistically.

Taste is intriguing. Roasty copper all over, with a rich toasted grain providing burnt sugar, charred wood and some rich earthy coffee grounds without any bite. Metallic edge towards the back with verdigris and slight phenolic edge. Spike of flavour on the back but it's predominantly a burnt, sweet kind of brew. Interesting and pleasant enough, albeit nothing like what I expected.

Foams up well in the mouth, great body.

Would expect more of an organic flavour. If this weren't called a Biere de Garde on the bottle I would have sworn I were drinking a Maibock. I Google translated the name because I was confused and apparently it means "Spring Brew" which frankly could be either. It just strikes me as a slightly toasty malt bomb and I really don't know about it stylistically. Doesn't make it unpleasant, just a bit confusing.

There are things rare or very rare: a Danish beer with a French style? The beer is not bad per`el price is excessive, and the amount of beer. I do not understand how a people denmark waste time making beer French style not noted for their quality.

A - Murky dark burnt orange colour with a finger of white head which fades to a ring and film and leaves excellent lacing.

S - Yeast, spices, white pepper and stone fruit.

T - Peaches and plums, yeast and a caramel malt prescence. Quite peppery with some bitter cocoa tucked away deep.

M - Light to medium body, moderate carbonation. Dry bitterness from start to finish.

O - Like it. Definately worth a go if you happen to spot one.

Slightly hazy amber-red colour with a smooth, fluffy, light tan head. Good head retention.

Rounded caramel malt aroma with dark fruit esters and some clove spice. Very nice.

A rich, malty farhouse ale with some nice spice and esters. The overall flavour profile is complex and delicious.

Medium body with moderate carbonation that accentuates the yeast notes. Good.

A very nice ale with plenty of flavour. The malt flavour works well with the yeast notes.
