Bottle, poured into tall pint glass. Nice head when poured. Dark black in appearance. Aroma of coffee and a dark chocolate. Some hops in smell, and you could tell this is a higher alcohol beer. Taste isn't as bold as others in this style. Roasted malts, light coffee, and chocolate tastes...not as strong as expected. Good beer, but not a great one.

Another great beer from Denmark, this little country is no slouch in craft beer world.Poured into an imperial nonic a near jet black except from some chocolate brown highlights when held to the light,a large blooming lighter mocha colored head atop.To me the aromas couldnt get any better,a fantastic display of chocolate and resiny hop, maybe the best aroma of any stout I have come across,if you like the hops no matter the style its spot on.The mouthfeel is a little sharp and not as full on as I would have liked.Bitter chocolate, dark fruit, and a healthy dose of resiny hop make for a well rounded flavor profile,if that mouthfeel was just a little more smooth!A really good beer that is close to being great, love the hop play going on.

Sampled at SDIBF, a good dark brown and black pour with a beige colored head to it. All the usual suspects in the aroma, roast, chocolate, dark fruit and sugar.

Taste, ditches the dark fruit, comes with more astringency and chocolate, touch of smoke. A degree of hops to it, nice touch as well. Beer gets more complex the more you drink it. Wouldn't mind checking this out another time, although its doubtful given its limited availability, never seen it in stores.

Bottle purchased from Green’s on Ponce in Atlanta.

Pours black with a tan head that leaves solid lacing.

Smells of smooth roasted malts with good amounts of dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Also present are very slight hints of herbal hops and vanilla.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Lightly roasted malts and cocoa powder up front are joined quickly by heavier dark chocolate flavors. Midway through light amounts of herbal and leafy hops join in, carrying through to a mildly bitter ending. Mouthfeel is very good, with grainy carbonation.

Overall this beer was better than the sum of its parts. Everything was present in very nice levels and this is a very smooth and easy-drinking beer that’s well worth a shot.

An amazing stout, with great bitterness and drinkability. Pours absolutley dark with off-white creamy head, with thick lace following. Milk chocolate brown coloured body and romas, along with the roast. Creamy and above average mouthfeel. Very tasty, and the 75 IBU kicks in the finish which made it great with food. Premiere Gourmet.

500 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Nearly pitch black body with a small, tan head. The bubbles are more Coca-Cola looking than beer looking, but when it settles it has a nice foamy ring that looks more familiar.

Smell - Roasty malts and some chocolate, but I swear I smell some lactose sweetness, which puts me off. Not an overwhelming aroma, but nice.

Taste - Roasty malts and some chocolate. Good flavors for what it has, but not a lot of complexity. The finish gets bitter and a little grassy. Combined is a sweetness that again I swear is lactose, but isn't off-putting the way it was in the aroma.

Mouthfeel - I like my bitter stouts to be thicker. This one has the bitterness of an RIS, but not the feel of it. Something to carry the stout flavors over the hop finish would be nice.

Overall - Not bad, not incredible. I'm looking forward to the Hr. Frederiksen.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black colour stout with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light lactose notes with some dry roasted malt and some black chocolate. Taste is an interesting mix between some black chocolate and some dry roasted malt which are offset by some light lactose notes. Body is above average with good carbonation and a somewhat creamy texture. OK though I prefer the imperial version better.

A deep brown/black brew, a tan head that leaves little lacing. Good curtains though.

Smelling of Marzipan, figs, burned toast and milk chocolate.

Sweet, burnt sugar and bread, sweet licorice, chocolate and chocolate liqueur.

Little carbonation, soft and sticky, a big body, a long dry ashy finish.

Really good after dinner.

500 ML poured into a tulip

A-- Poured a dark cola color, almost black. Medium pour got a large head that quickly receded to a root beer float colored head and level. Left spotty lacing through the entire glass. Very good head retention to this. Just little flashes of carbonation on the sides of the glass.

S-- Roasted malts, roasted barley, fresh roasted coffee, warm chocolate. Nice warm, inviting smell to this. Does get a little soft at times though.

T-- Coffee/ espresso grounds, coco powder, and lots of roasted malt. Almost to the point of over roasted.

M-- Bitter but smooth. Lots of bitter coffee/ espresso grounds in this. For as bitter as it is, it is still quite soft in the back and a little bit of acidity as well. Good touches of carbonation. Bitterness makes this a high medium feel and medium carbonated.

D-- Tasty stout. Well hidden ABV and a sipper due to the amount of bitterness in this. Bigger and bolder than what I expected. Well made beer.

Short live head leaves a collar. Beer is a dark brown. Minimal lacing.

Big roasty aromas. Some coffee.

A lot of roast going on here. Slight mintiness. Pretty easy drinkig for 7%abv

Medium Mouthfeel, lower end of carbonation.

Good time roast in the one that i enjoyed. Recommended for stout fans.

RBSG09 bottle at the grand tasting. Pours almost black with a creamy tan head. Aromas of dark breads and dark chocolate, with a metallic note. Flavor is mainly dark chocolate and cocoa powder, with a light roasted coffee character and toffee. Some mild hop flavors come through with pine, grapefruit, and resin. There's a hint of acidity too. Nice complex beer.

Here's another Danish stout. On to the beer:

Black in color with a faint hue of ruby red at one edge. The head forms a finger's thick on top, but drop to a thin lace before vanishing. The nose has some baker's chocolate and a light pine note. The taste delivers like the aroma; bakering chocolate, vague cocoa, some pine, moderate roastiness (especially towards the aftertaste. Medium bodied but fairly rich, though quite low in the carbonation department; I would have liked to see a few more bubbles. Baker's chocolate remains in the aftertaste.

A pretty good stout by Amagar, but the bang for the buck turns out to be less than optimal, even among the Shelton Brothers' other Scandinavian imports.

500mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Pours black in the glass with some reddish hints showing through the edges. The head is small and beige, receding to a small cap with some delicate lacing.

The aroma is dominated by roasted black malts, almost burnt notes, cocoa and a surprisingly noticeable hop presence. There is a bit more sweetness than the Hr Frederiksen.

The taste is more of the same with some sweet chocolate malts and toasted, smoky black malts combining to form the backbone of the taste with the citrus from the hops layered on top with some dark fruit sweetness as well.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied for the style, though it's certainly on the lighter side if you're expecting an impy stout.

This is almost a semi-imperial stout as it's got much of the complexity and flavor of an impy stout but with a lighter body. It makes it seriously drinkable.
